Who will hit Iran first? Israel? Stay tuned!

Iran is suddenly back on the news.  It has a lot to do with reports that Israel is seriously contemplating an unilateral attack on Iran to destroy the nuclear plants.

Yes, we've heard this before.  Also, I recall many in the left who speculated that Pres Bush would attack Iran after the elections.
However, there is something new about these reports.

First, Israel is correctly concerned with all of the talk about advances in the Iranian nuclear plans.  In other words, Israel has no "margin of error' when it comes to Iranian missiles.  None!

Second, it looks like the Obama administration got "a wake up call" when we discovered the Iranian plot to kill the Saudi Ambassador in Washington DC.

Frankly, it does not get closer than that.

David Sanger has a provocative analysis today on the topic

At some point, Israel will do it or we will do it.

Looking back, I think that Pres BO missed a great opportunity in the spring of 2009 when the crowds were in Teheran's streets calling for "change".

Pres BO did not listen and the regime got away with murder.  My guess is that the Iranians also concluded that BO is weak and that's not the image that you want anyone in the Middle East to promote.

In October '62, Pres Kennedy was forced to take the world to the brink of nuclear war because the USSR thought that he showed weakness at The Bay of Pigs and Berlin.

Let's hope that history does not repeat itself.  Let's hope that we don't have to bomb Iran just to show them that our president is not weak.

G20: Pres BO's charm is gone & even the French don't get his "baby" jokes anymore!

Pres BO is back in town from the G-20.  He was greeted by a good and honest editorial from The Washington Post: G-20 summit ends with uncertainty

Whatever happened to the summer of 2008?  Remember when German and French crowds greeted him like a rock star?

Yes, the hysterical summer of 2008 is now the "we can't figure out this indecisive guy" of 2011!

It's very different now! Even the French don't get his jokes anymore!

A few days ago, Pres BO said something about the new Sarkozy baby.  As you may know, Pres Sarkozy and his wife had a baby recently.

Pres BO's remarks have created a little commotion in France:

"President Obama came, he saw, he insulted.

Obama insults Sarkozy,” blared the headline on one French website, taking umbrage at Mr. Obama’s wayward remark at the G-20 summit here about the physical appearance of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Mr. Obama thought he was making a gentle joke about Mr. Sarkozy, host of the summit, when he congratulated Mr. Sarkozy and wife Carla Bruni on the birth of their baby daughter on Oct. 19. Instead, Mr. Obama caused a minor international incident.

“I want to make mention that this is our first meeting since the arrival of the newest Sarkozy, and so I want to congratulate Nicolas and Carla on the birth of Giulia,” Mr. Obama told reporters shortly after his arrival at the G-20, with Mr. Sarkozy at his side.

“And I informed Nicolas on the way in that I am confident that Giulia inherited her mother’s looks rather than her father’s, which I think is an excellent thing.”

He added, “And so now we share one of the greatest challenges and blessings of life, and that is being fathers to our daughters.”"

Memo to the hypersensitive French:  It was a joke!  We don't like Pres BO either but I'm sure that he was simply trying to be nice with the Sarkozy couple.

So what's going on?

Beyond "hypersensitivity" and a huge ego, Pres Sarkozy and the rest of Europe is just a bit disenchanted with Pres BO.

They all got irrationally excited over there with "the anti-Bush"!  However, it's a lot different now that he is governing rather than speaking before crowds drunk with "Obamamania"!

We've gone from "in your face Bush" to "let's hold hands, give a speech, and smile our problems away".

It ain't working and Europe wants a refund on Obama!  They want a president with a growing US economy rather than a guy who gives speeches or "insults them" with "bad baby jokes"!

Yes, Pres BO's charm is gone! The French don't think that he is funny anymore and that's the ultimate insult for a president obsessed with being loved by everyone!

P.S. We spoke about this, and other topics, with Bill Katz of Urgent Agenda:
