On Thursday night, I was talking to an old friend who told me had moved to Texas from San Francisco. He went on to say that the cost of housing is prohibitive and the quality of life not that good.
On Friday, I saw this and realized that my friend has a lot of company. In other words, a lot of people are leaving San Francisco:
Russell Hancock with Joint Venture Silicon Valley said, “Silicon Valley has been this place that is growing. And it was mostly due to people relocating here and relocating from other parts of the world. That’s changing.”Joint Venture Silicon Valley’s own study of the out-migration says workers are moving to Sacramento, Austin, and Portland due to a number of factors. But topping the list is the high cost of housing.“You can’t even contemplate getting into the housing market here,” Hancock said. “And I don’t mean just service workers, but highly skilled professionals. The tech elite are having a hard time affording reasonable housing in Silicon Valley. That makes it difficult for employers to recruit.”Operators of a San Jose U-Haul business say one of their biggest problems is getting its rental moving vans back because so many are on a one-way ticket out of town.Dabak cites crowding, crime and politics as the reasons for her own exodus.“We don’t like it here anymore. You know, we don’t like this sanctuary state status and just the politics,” she said.
My friend said something else. I asked him if the local government cares or realizes that they are losing the taxpayers paying the way. He said that the local government doesn’t care. They are just as dumb as the NFL players who took a knee knowing that some fans would be upset.
Remember that Carter Page has rights too:...."We Should Care About What Happened to Carter Page.....The former Trump aide's reputation has been ruined -- not by a conviction, not by any charges, but by a warrant that was supposed to be secret." Democrats actually hurting dreamers. Dreamer who accepts Trump's offer is better off than he's now......all of the other stuff, from border wall to a merit immigration system to ending chain migration, will have zero impact on dreamers or their path to citizenship.— Silvio Canto, Jr. (@SCantojr) February 10, 2018
The Democrats are driving this scandal into the hands of an independent counsel......that's the last thing that Pres Obama and the Clintons want........an independent counsel will look in the closet and it won't be pretty.........— Silvio Canto, Jr. (@SCantojr) February 10, 2018
