Pres BO should talk about Hollywood & abortion

The problem with gun control is that it does not deter violence or stop the spead of guns.  In fact, the only beneficiary of gun laws is the criminal who will use them against law abiding citizens who can not defend themselves.

We should be having a conversation about something other than guns.  For example, the violence in the movies and video games is alarming:

""NRA Executive Vice President and CEO Wayne LaPierre said after the shooting. "A child growing up in America witnesses 16,000 murders and 200,000 acts of violence by the time he or she reaches the ripe old age of 18."" (WashingtonTimes)

Add to this "daily feed" of mindless violence the 1 million legal abortions in the US and it adds up to a culture of death, or at least a culture that finds some lives more convenient than others.

It is shocking.  It is appalling to see this happening in a land founded under the ideal of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".   Today's liberals have twisted Jefferson's words to "some life, conditional liberty and the pursuit of dependency".

The 'Second Term Obama' would rather fight than govern

My new American Thinker post.

We saw "the 2nd term Obama" at his press conference on Monday.  He is a fighter not a lover.  He is going to pick fights with the Congress (the GOP House not the Democratic Senate) and fight and fight and fight.  I also think that he is frustrated that he is the first president in recent memory to be reelected with less than votes than the first time around.  It must be an "ego crushing reality" for a man who thinks that he is God's gift to mankind!

Why the combative President Obama? The answer is that President Obama would rather fight than govern.  We face huge problems and there are no easy solutions. Governing means that he will upset the base!  Fighting the GOP is the kind of distraction that avoids decisions and keeps the base happy.

On entitlements, President Obama would rather say that the GOP wants to throw your grandma over the bridge than to admit that Social Security and Medicare are unsustainable.

On the debt ceiling, President Obama wants you to believe that he had nothing to do with the debt over the last four years.

On gun control, President Obama knows that gun control is like closing Guantanamo.  It sounds good but it never gets around the bases.

President Obama has a couple of early advantages:

First, he has a political safety net of "low information voters" who voted for him because he is cool, hip and follows the Billboard Top 100 charts.  He talks to these voters by going on MTV or "The View".

Second, the news media is still "in the tank" although this week's press conference raised some hope that journalists have finally decided to practice journalism.

What should the GOP do to fight the 2nd term Obama?

The GOP House should pass bills (i.e. govern) and force President Obama and Majority Leader Reid to react to them.

The GOP should be assertive and let the new faces, like Sen Rubio, Sen Cruz & all of those governors, do the talking.

Yes, the 2nd term Obama wants a fight and the GOP should fight right back by passing legislation in Washington and state capitals.
