Sorry to spoil your Christmas spirit

It's a great movie. However, make sure that your kid's teacher does not show the movie in school. Otherwise, the ACLU may shut it down!
Can you believe that we have come to this point? The ACLU needs to have a Christmas party!

President Bush and historians

Historians will eventually look back at President Bush.  Frankly, we don't know what they will write.

Of course, I voted for Pres. Bush in 2000 and 2004.

Pres. Bush correctly identified an enemy and fought back.

In my view, Pres. Bush will be remembered as the Winston Churchill of our times, the man who told us what we did not want to hear!

Also, Pres. Bush shares a quality with our great presidents. He was not afraid to make unpopular decisions. This was a sharp contrast with Pres. Clinton who had polls for breakfast every morning.

You may recall that a liberal Democrat supported Pres. Bush's re-election in 2004. Take a look at Why President Bush is a Hero By Ed Koch:
"George Bush is a hero to me because he has courage. The President does what he believes to be in the best interest of the United States. He sticks with his beliefs, no matter how intense the criticism and invective that are directed against him every day."
Koch was right.  My guess is that historians will agree with Mr. Koch.

More bad news for Che

It was good to see this one a few years ago.

Check out "Che, Cuba and Christmas".    Target became a target of the Guevara myth BY MARY ANASTASIA O'GRADY:
"That it took only a day for Target to make that admirable decision suggests that at least someone at the company knows who Guevara was and what Cuba is today thanks in part to him. The misstep, though, probably occurred because others at the company allowed Target to become a target itself of the Che myth."
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to Target!   Maybe every shareholder should get a copy of Humberto's book:

‘Jingle all the way’ and making racism totally meaningless

We learned that another one of our traditions is racist.  According to a professor, “Jingle Bells” is rooted in racism:
A Boston University theater professor claims the Christmas carol has a “problematic history” because it was originally performed to make fun of African Americans.
“The legacy of ‘Jingle Bells’ is one where its blackface and racist origins have been subtly and systematically removed from its history,” Kyna Hamill, a BU theater historian, wrote in her “Theatre Survey” research paper on the story of “Jingle Bells.”
“Although ‘One Horse Open Sleigh,’ for most of its singers and listeners, may have eluded its racialized past and taken its place in the seemingly unproblematic romanticization of a normal ‘white’ Christmas, attention to the circumstances of its performance history enables reflection on its problematic role in the construction of blackness and whiteness in the United States,” she wrote.
Wow – who knew that?  Or better, who really cares to know that?  Or even better, don’t these professors have courses to teach or finals to grade?  What would lead a person to go down this path of finding racist origins in a Christmas song?  It’s time for the alumni to have a chat with the school president and demand that sanity return to the faculty.
We have now reached a point where accusing someone of racism is meaningless.  It has become a joke!  I remember when it meant something.  Today, “racism” means that you oppose sanctuary cities, oppose President Obama’s executive orders, or call for reforms in the public schools run by the teacher unions that support Democrats.  To say the least, it is also an opportunity for a college professor to get an invitation to MSNBC!
What am I going to do with that old L.P. of Smokey Robinson & Miracles singing “Jingle Bells“?  I wonder if anyone told Smokey he was promoting “whiteness” by singing that tune!
