Not sure if the Bidens are singing that Bee Gees tune about a broken heart but Jill is probably not saying anything nice about Kamala when she is taking a bath. There is nothing like an angry woman and a bathtub.

The Biden-Harris feud is real. It goes back to 2020 when Senator Harris accused him of being a racist in the story about the little girl on the bus.

According to news reports, it's getting hot and we are not talking about climate change. This is the story: 

An Axios report alleged Sunday that there is growing tension and miscommunication between the White House and the Harris campaign.

National political correspondent Alex Thompson reported "many senior Biden aides remain wounded by the president being pushed out of his re-election bid and are still adjusting to being in a supporting role on the campaign trail."

"They're too much in their feelings," one Harris ally reportedly told Axios about the White House.

Thompson wrote the main issue with some Harris campaign members is that White House aides "aren't sufficiently coordinating Biden's messaging and schedule to align with what's best for the vice president's campaign."

Yeah -- those broken hearts are tough to mend.

Honestly, I see two real problems behind this feud.

President Biden is right. She cheated on him by defending his mental acuity on the night of the Trump-Biden debate and then stabbing Joe as soon as the opportunity presented itself. Ambitious Kam was too much for Joe.

The second reason is that she is not ready for the presidency. Honestly, she may win because some people hate Trump that much. It could happen, but I have a funny feeling that Trump will win because she’s so incompetent.

So this feud will keep on feuding. And Joe and Jill will leave with a broken heart and a desire to take Kam & Tim down with them.

We remember Mario Puzzo (1920-99)

We remember Mario Puzzo who was born in New York City on this day in 1920.  He died in 1999.  

His book "The Godfather" was published in 1999 and the story turned into a movie in 1972.

Mike Cuellar and Orioles won game 5 and the 1970 World Series

On this day in 1970, Mike Cuellar pitched a complete game and the Orioles took the World Series in 5 games.

During his brilliant career, he won 185 games, a 3.14 ERA and completed 172 starts! Without question, one of the best Latino pitchers ever.

Mike died in 2010.    He was voted # 27 in the Top 40 Orioles of all time.

Happy # 79 Jim Palmer

We say happy birthday to Jim Palmer.   He was born in New York City on this day in 1945.     

From 1969 to 1978, he was probably the best right hander in major league baseball:   8-time 20-game winner, two ERA titles and 3 Cy Young Awards,    It's hard to think of a more consistent pitcher during that period.

Jim won 268 games, completed 211 and finished with a 2.86 ERA.    He won a World Series game in 3 decades:   1966, 1970 and 1983.    

Palmer was elected to The Hall of Fame in 1991.

"I love Lucy" aired on US TV on this day in 1951.    

It was the most popular situation comedy TV show of its day.    In fact, 72% of US household watched the episode when Lucy went to the hospital to give birth to Little Ricky.

The plot was different or a Cuban bandleader in New York married to one of the craziest housewives in the planet.    Add to that Fred & Ethel and you had all of the ingredients for a very funny episode.

"I love Lucy" lives on thanks to reruns and very funny episodes.   I think that I've seen all!

1948: Gerald Ford married Elizabeth Bloomer

We remember that future President Gerald Ford married Elizabeth Anne (“Betty”) Bloomer on this day in 1948.   Gerald Ford died on December 26, 2006, at the age of 93. Betty died on July 8, 2011, also at age 93.

And he was my first vote for President in 1976.

1991: Clarence Thomas confirmed to The Supreme Court

We remember that Clarence Thomas was confirmed to the Supreme Court on this day in 1991.

I remember watching President Bush introduce Judge Thomas.  I felt good for the country and Judge Thomas.  What a way to show the progress we had made on racial issues, by nominating a man of integrity and a history of self-reliance.  I did not know much about Mr. Thomas but walked away with a favorable impression.

I had no idea what Senators Biden and Kennedy had in store for the country.  The confirmation hearings turned into a disgrace when Clarence Thomas was forced to respond to Anita Hill’s charges.  It was a low point for the U.S. Senate.  I guess a deeper low was reached with Judge Kavanaugh in 2018.  Who knew that the U.S. Senate could reach such levels of immaturity?

The whole thing had nothing to do with their relationship, whatever that was.  It was a last-minute attempt by the Democrats to “Bork” Thomas before he had a chance to join the Court.  The 1987 Borking of Judge Bork was still fresh in our minds.

It was a high-tech lynching, as Mr. Thomas told the committee.  For me, it was all about abortion, as we saw in the aforementioned Kavanaugh hearings.

History will judge Thomas.  No one will ever question Thomas’s character, which is a lot stronger than all of the feminists and liberals who took cheap shots at him to keep Roe v. Wade in place.

My guess is that Grandpa Thomas is very proud of his grandson Clarence!

1975: Big day for Luis Tiant

We remember Luis Tiant’s career because he won 

229 games in the majors.   He also led the AL in ERA in 1968 and 1972.

Today, we recalled that he pitched a brilliant 6-0 shutout against Cincinnati in game 1 of the 1975 World Series.    He did it against a lineup that included Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench, fellow Cuban Tony Perez, David Concepcion, George Foster and a few others.   They were called The Big Red Machine for a reason!

Tiant came back and won game 4 with a complete game that featured 163 pitches!   He started game 6, after a few days of rain, but did not get a decision.  That was the game where Carlton Fisk hit the HR in the bottom of the 12th.

We remember the man they called “El Tiante” and his brilliant pitching on this day in 1975.

A father-son story in the middle of the 1975 World Series

As any baseball fan knows, the 1975 World Series was one of the greatest ever, from Carlton Fisk to Pete Rose to Johnny Bench to Joe Morgan.  It was also a great story about a father and his son.

Today, we remember Luis Tiant.  He won 229 games in the majors.  He also led the A.L. in ERA in 1968 and 1972.  Along with Juan Marichal, he was one of the best right-handers from Latin America.

We also remember his father, one of the best pitchers in Cuban history and the Negro Leagues.  Luis Sr. pitched in the U.S., Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico, as well as touring with teams from 1926 through 1948.  Unfortunately, he never got to play in the Major Leagues.

Many years ago, a proud father watched his son pitch a World Series beauty, a brilliant 6-0 shutout against Cincinnati in Game 1 of the 1975 World Series.  He did it against a lineup that included Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench, fellow Cuban Tony Perez, David Concepción, George Foster, and a few others.  They were called The Big Red Machine for a reason!
