Who knew that Americans cared about law and order?

Trump sending federal agents to more U.S. cities amid 'law and order' campaign | CTV News
A few years ago, I was reading Theodore White’s book about the 1968 election and that time that Governor George Wallace told protesters what he would do if they got in front of his car. “…if some of them lie down in front of my automobile, it’ll be the last one they want to lie down in front of.”
Today, Americans are once again worried about “law and order” and the Democrats are playing defense.
According to Tom Porter, the Biden campaign was caught off guard by Kenosha.   How do you get caught off guard about violence in a city in this environment?   That’s like a baseball manager getting caught off guard that Ricky Henderson would try to steal second!
The Biden campaign countered by blaming President Trump, his tweets, and everything else under the sun.   It won’t work because we all remember how Democrats supported all these marchers and made excuses for their bad behavior.
Who can forget Senator Kamala Harris promoting a bail fund intended for protesters in Minnesota?   Are those the same ones that Joe Biden now wants to prosecute?  Did Biden call on Democrat mayors and governors to start arresting and prosecuting the people throwing bricks at the police or starting fires?
Yes, Americans have always cared about law and order.  It is the foundation of any civilized society.  What’s amazing is that Joe Biden’s 2020 Democrats did not figure this out the first night that Minneapolis burned.

Happy # 53 Luis Gonzalez

We say happy birthday to Luis Gonzalez who was born in Tampa on this day in 1967.

Luis was a great hitter from very recent memory.    He broke with Houston in 1990 and ended up with the D-Backs in 1999.

As you may remember, Luis had the winning hit in game 7 of the 2001 World Series over the Yankees.  It kept the Yankees from winning their 4th straight title.

Luis put together some great numbers:   .283 career batting average, 354 HR, and 1,439 RBI over 2,591 games.

He hit .298 over 8 years in Arizona.  Great hitter!

2019: Beto is just a 4-letter word

A post from 2019:

As I understand it, Dylan never released a recording of it, but Joan Baez gave us a wonderful rendition of “Love Is Just a Four-Letter Word.”

Nowadays, it sure looks like Beto is nothing but a four-letter word.  He is certainly using them in the campaign trail.  Maybe he thinks that this is how he will get the youth back in the game.
Speaking on CNN, he referred to the situation related to the shootings as “f—” up.   The transcript goes like this:
Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke again dropped an F-bomb Sunday morning, calling Saturday’s deadly shooting rampage in Odessa and Midland, Texas “f*cked up.” On CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, O’Rourke told host Dana Bash that “the rhetoric that we’ve used, the thoughts and prayers you just referred to, it has done nothing to stop the epidemic of gun violence.”
O’Rourke continued: “To protect our kids, our families, our fellow Americans in public places. At a Walmart in El Paso where 22 were killed. In Sutherland Springs, in a Church. One or two a day all over this country. A hundred killed daily in the United States of America. We’re averaging about 300 mass shootings a year. No other country comes close.”
And he dropped the four-letter word.

Again, maybe he is hoping to get the young back.  Of course, he got the young in the contest against Senator Ted Cruz because they spent $80 to sign up everyone in Texas. At one point, we had more Beto offices than gas stations around here!
So Beto is down to using four-letter words to express his anger.  Watch for Beto to drop another one at the debate.  It’s all that he has left in the tank!
