Doctors not judges: What was our biggest complaint with Roe v Wade? Abortion was decided by judges, thus leaving legislatures elected by voters out of the conversation. Roe was overturned and now voters get to vote on the issue. As a consequence, you have unconditional ...

Happy # 80 Fergie Jenkins

We remember Ferguson Jenkins, one of my favorite pitchers.     He was born in Ontario on this day in 1943.

Jenkins won 284 games, completed 267, threw 49 shutouts plus 3,192 K's.

His best years were with the Cubs (1966-73).   His best season was with Texas in 1974 when he won 25 and completed 29!  What a career!

Wonder how many more games he would have won with a winning team?

Fergie never played in the post season.   He came close in 1969 but the Cubs blew a lead to the Mets in September.    In 1974, a young Texas team battled for the AL West but lost to Oakland.

Great pitcher and "innings eater".   Hall of Fame 1991.

Happy # 98 Dick Van Dyke

Dick Van Dyke was born in Missouri on this day in 1925.

Most of us met him through The Dick Van Dyke Show, one of the best sit-coms of the 1960's.   He played Rob Petrie, a TV comedy writer.  His wife was the very pretty Mary Tyler Moore.  It was a great show!

He was also in several other movies, such as "Bye Bye Birdie", "Mary Poppins", and a few others.
