As a veteran of the ObamaCare debates of 2009-10, I am not surprised that health care is more expensive. Many of us back then were calling for tax credits so that people could buy private policies and an option to cover those with medical issues. Unfortunately, the Democrats got their Affordable Health Care and nothing is affordable today.
The complaints grow by the day. Let’s check this out from CBS:
Health insurance costs are far outpacing inflation, leaving more consumers on the hook each year for thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses. At the same time, some insurers are rejecting nearly one in five claims. That double whammy is leaving Americans paying more for coverage yet sometimes feeling like they’re getting less in return, experts say.
Are you surprised that the top cause of bankruptcy in the U.S. is health care-related debt? According to the aforementioned article, the average health insurance premium for families is $25,572 per year. That’s a number that most of us associate with a mortgage or renting an apartment.
What happened in 2010? Nobody wanted to challenge President Obama’s signature legislation. The media just gave the Affordable Health Act the benefit of the doubt that it’d be affordable.
What do we do now? First, let’s start by recognizing that it did not work. We need to replace AHCA with tax credits so that a 60-year-old woman does not have to buy a policy that covers maternity or allows a single 23-year-old young man a chance to buy a high deductible policy.
So we are back to square one because ObamaCare was not what we were told it would be.

Happy # 74 to Gorman Thomas
Does time fly or what?
Happy birthday to Gorman Thomas who was born in South Carolina on this day in 1950. He played his first game with the Brewers in 1973.
It took him a few seasons to get going but he became one of the best power hitters developed by the Milwaukee Brewers' organization.
Thomas lead the league HRs in 1979 and 1982. He was a big part of the Milwaukee teams that won the AL pennant in 1982.
From 1978 to 1982, Thomas hit 197 HRs with 560 RBI.
He was fun to watch.
We remember Frank Sinatra (1915-1998)
It's a good day to remember a great song of the season.

Frank Sinatra: Was he the inspiration for Johnny Fontane?
Was he the greatest male vocalist of the 20th century? I don't know but he has to be among the finalists.
According to a recent article, Frank Sinatra confronted Mario Puzo, the author of "Godfather". According to the story, Sinatra berated Puzo one night in a Los Angeles. Sinatra was offended that he may have been the inspiration for Vito Corleone's godson or Johnny Fontane.
We will never know but it makes for a great story.
1917: Father Flanagan established "Boys Town"
It's a great movie. It's also a true story. Father Flanagan established "Boys Town", a place for troubled boys. It is called "Boys and Girls Town" today. Spencer Tracy played Father Flanagan.

Just saw that Dionne Warwick turned a year older. She was born in New Jersey in 1940.
Dionne is one of the greatest female singers ever! Her songs are a huge part of my soundtrack.
I've been hearing Dionne Warwick on the radio as far back as I can remember.
Happy birthday to one of the real pretty ladies of pop music!
