Who exactly is signing up for ObamaCare?

Related image
We hear about this surge in ObamaCare enrollments.
The San Francisco Chronicle is even asserting that “the public embrace of the Affordable Care Act amounts to a stark rejection of administration and Republican policy”.
Maybe we can call it something like the revenge of the AHA.
The editorial spends a lot of time bashing Trump but it does not say anything about the economic state of the people signing up. In other words, are these AHA policyholders going to pay their own premiums or will they be subsidized in some fashion?
We don’t know but the answer matters a lot.
A week ago, the New York Times wrote another article about ObamaCare. It gave us a glimpse about the dilemma of the middle class, or the people who have to pay their own way. This is how they described the state of the AHA:
The situation here in Charlottesville is an extreme example of a pattern that can be seen in other places around the country.
The Affordable Care Act is working fairly well for people who receive subsidies in the form of tax credits, said Doug Gray, the executive director of the Virginia Association of Health Plans, which represents insurers.
But for many others, especially many middle-class families, he said, “the premium is outrageous, and it’s unaffordable.”
The New York Times is simply stating the case that I hear from friends and acquaintances. In other words, the people subsidized can get a policy whereas the people required to pay can’t afford it.
As I have seen, many people are simply avoiding signing up and hoping that they pay the fine or work out a pay arrangement with the hospital.
Enrollment surge or not, the premiums are way too expensive.
And that’s the Affordable Health Care for you!

2008: There was a nice victory but no Obama landslide

We wrote about this a week ago. There was no Obama landslide. There was an Obama victory.

In other words, 52-47% is not a landslide.

Also, Obama spent $600 million. He had the media in the tank. Luckiest of all, he benefited from a last minute economic credit crash.

Despite these amazing advantages, he got 52% of the vote.

Don't give me the landslide stuff! It did not happen!

"Looking over the new election map too, we see that even in Obama's America, the "flyover lands" are overwhelmingly steak-and-potato, pro-life.
South Carolina, Nebraska, Montana, Alaska, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, South Dakota, North Dakota, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, still vote Republican in spite of the media's anti-conservative hostility, in an economic downturn."
Don't get me wrong. Indeed, Obama won and let's not kid ourselves. Our Republican brand needs a major tune up. However, this is still a center-right country.

Iran and the story of the scorpion

Rick Moran relates an old story in WHAT IS THE NATURE OF THE IRANIAN REGIME?:
"The Tale of the Scorpion is an old Native American parable.
A scorpion was walking along the bank of a river, wondering how to get to the other side.

Suddenly, he saw a fox. He asked the fox to take him on his back across the river.
The fox said, “No. If I do that, you’ll sting me, and I’ll drown.”The scorpion assured him, “If I do that, we’ll both drown.”
The fox thought about it and finally agreed. So the scorpion climbed up on his back, and the fox began to swim.

But halfway across the river, the scorpion stung him.

As poison filled his veins, the fox turned to the scorpion and said, “Why did you do that? Now you’ll drown, too.”
“I couldn’t help it,” said the scorpion. “It’s my nature.”
Do we give these people the benefit of the doubt? In other words, do we believe that their nuclear power is for peaceful purposes?

Or do we take out their facilities at some future time?

Put me down as someone who thinks that Iran is the scorpion in Rick's great tale.

Again, I could be wrong. Frankly, it's too much of a chance to take.

Another reason to dislike Lopez-Obrador

A few months ago, I overheard a Mexican friend say Sr. Lopez Obrador, who is the left's candidate for president in Mexico and known as AMLO south of the border, is planning to invite Cuban singer Silvio Rodriguez to one of his campaigns.

Of course, AMLO lost me with that move.  My guess is that he lost the Cuban-Americans in the US.

2009: Prince Harry went to Afghanistan rather than look for an excuse to get out!

Image result for prince harry in afghanistan images

Back in 2009, we learned that Prince Harry was fighting in Afghanistan

For some time, we were told that the prince would not go to war because of the potential for a hostage situation.

Prince Harry was not afraid. He is not that kind of a young man!  He served in Afghanistan with his fellow UK soldiers.

Thumbs up for the prince.

Of course, let's hope that France and Germany hear about the prince's courage.

Perhaps they will finally join the war on terror and send their young men to fight!
