Remembering how Robin Gibb & The Bee Gees sang for 50 years!

Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees Dies at 62 | PEOPLE.com
As we remember Robin Gibb's life, we are reminded of the brothers' contribution to pop music.

They started singing when they were kids.  They had hit records in Australia when Barry was 17 and Robin & Maurice were 14.

They became international superstars in 1967 and dominated the charts with 6 consecutive # 1 songs, from "How deep is your love" in 1977 to "Love you inside out" in the summer of '79.

They also wrote and produced albums for Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick & Diana Ross.

To my knowledge, The Bee Gees are the only group with a hit in 4 decades.  They charted on the international charts from 1966 to Maurice's death in 2003.

Robin charted recently when he recorded a song remembering UK soldiers.  He had some solo efforts in the 1980s such as "Juliet".

His last recording was "The Titanic Requiem", a music score that he wrote about the 100th anniversary of the Titanic.  Robin was too ill to attend the premiere.

The brothers sold over 200 million records and the Gibb songbook is recognized all over the world.  They leave a pop musical legacy second only to Lennon-McCartney.

Maybe Pres BO was born in Kenya and Hawaii at the same time

It's been a very tough week for Pres BO's image.

First, there is a new book called "The Amateur".

This is the book where Pres Clinton calls Pres BO an "amateur".  I agree with Jack Cashill that "the hand of Clinton" may be behind all of this:

"The Klein book, for instance, opens with an intimate meeting chez Clinton in which Bill encourages Hillary to do the seemingly unthinkable, namely challenge Obama in 2012.  Someone at that meeting was allowed to talk to Klein, probably encouraged to talk to Klein.  Indeed, the meeting may have been staged for Klein's benefit."

Just curious: Can you recall the last time that an ex-president spoke this way about a president of his own party?  It's hard to believe that Ed Klein made it up.  I think that someone from the Clintons wanted Klein to hear and write this.

The book also raises a lot of questions about Pres BO's temperament.   This is from Ed Lasky's article:

"There is a common pattern: Obama likes to campaign, but once he is elected and actually starts working, his interest flags, and he starts looking for the next "big thing" -- electorally speaking.  He had few if any accomplishments or professional standing in any of his previous positions.  Even when he served as a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, he avoided any encounters with other faculty who enjoyed discussing the law.  His reluctance to engage them is revealing in and of itself, suggesting he had a reason for his lack of confidence."

My guess is that BO was indeed born in Hawaii but used his "African" background to promote himself or career.  How else do you explain a brochure from 1991 saying that he was born in Kenya?  I understand that the brochure was still saying so in 2007.

So what's going on?  Who told the literary agent that Obama was born in Kenya?  What led a clerk in the office to print that BO was born in Kenya?  Why didn't BO immediately correct his agent?  Would you not correct a nationality mistake in your personal records?

I am not a conspiracy person.  However, my guess is that BO may have thought that he was indeed born in Kenya before he was born in Hawaii.  Maybe his mom or step father told him different things.

Who knows?  We need to hear from Pres BO about this Kenya episode.
