A word about January 13

On this day in 1982, an Air Florida 737 crashed into the Potomac River.   It was also a day for heroes, such as the stories of passengers Arland Williams and Lenny Skutnik plus bystander Roger Olian.    The 3 were awarded the Coast Guard Gold Lifesaving Medal.   Later, the bridge was renamed the Arland D. Williams Jr. Memorial Bridge.   It was a day of tragedy and heroes!

1964:  The Beatles' "I Want To Hold Your Hand" entered the Billboard USA Top 100....it jumped to #1 the next week......and stay at #1 for 7 weeks.....the biggest song of 1964....it ranks as # 16 in Rolling Stone's Top 500 songs.   In the UK, the B-side was "This boy".    In the US, the B-side was "I saw her standing there".......You can hear the songs here:   "I want to hold your hand"........."I saw her standing there"...........and "This boy"............
