Who will hit Iran first? Israel? Stay tuned!

Iran is suddenly back on the news.  It has a lot to do with reports that Israel is seriously contemplating an unilateral attack on Iran to destroy the nuclear plants.

Yes, we've heard this before.  Also, I recall many in the left who speculated that Pres Bush would attack Iran after the elections.
However, there is something new about these reports.

First, Israel is correctly concerned with all of the talk about advances in the Iranian nuclear plans.  In other words, Israel has no "margin of error' when it comes to Iranian missiles.  None!

Second, it looks like the Obama administration got "a wake up call" when we discovered the Iranian plot to kill the Saudi Ambassador in Washington DC.

Frankly, it does not get closer than that.

David Sanger has a provocative analysis today on the topic

At some point, Israel will do it or we will do it.

Looking back, I think that Pres BO missed a great opportunity in the spring of 2009 when the crowds were in Teheran's streets calling for "change".

Pres BO did not listen and the regime got away with murder.  My guess is that the Iranians also concluded that BO is weak and that's not the image that you want anyone in the Middle East to promote.

In October '62, Pres Kennedy was forced to take the world to the brink of nuclear war because the USSR thought that he showed weakness at The Bay of Pigs and Berlin.

Let's hope that history does not repeat itself.  Let's hope that we don't have to bomb Iran just to show them that our president is not weak.
