August 3, 1923: Calvin Coolidge became President of the US

Calvin Coolidge | Miller Center
On August 3, 1923, VP Calvin Coolidge became the 30th president of the US.   It followed the passing of President Harding.    He was sworn in by his father, who was a notary public.   Mr. Coolidge learned of President Harding's death in the middle of the night!

By he way, President Coolidge was born on July 4, 1872.

A few years ago, Amity Shlaes wrote a good book about President Coolidge.
