At 19, he made his debut with the Chicago Cubs and became one of the best lefties in the National League. He was 80-81 with a 3.76 ERA over 9 seasons in Chicago. The Cubs did not have a lot of winning seasons back then.
In 1972, Ken joined the Oakland A's and was a key part of that amazing team that won 3 consecutive World Series titles. He was 77-55 with a 2.92 ERA for the A's!
In the post season, Holtzman was superb with the A's: 6-4 with a 2.30 ERA.
Overall, he won 174, completed 129 and 31 shutouts.
