It's always a pleasure to read about Texas, specially now that
the Rangers have the best record in the major leagues. It's an even bigger pleasure when the BBC reminds us of
"the economic success story" known as Texas.
It starts with jobs, good real estate prices, low taxes and very nice places to live.
The BBC does correctly remind its readers that no one moves to Texas because of our climate! In other words, we have big rain drops, unbearable heat and crazy ice storms in January that shut down traffic.
The BBC points out two "non-economic" and wonderful reasons behind the Texas boom.
They remind you that "Texans are normal people". Well, let me amend that by saying that people here are normal but do take their football very seriously. Just don't expect your Texas friends to be in "small talk" mood when the Redskins beat the Cowboys. Don't call that Sunday afternoon. Call them on Monday!
They also remind us that no one is leaving Texas:
"It is the "stickiest" state in the country, according to the latest figures from the Pew Research Center, which suggest that more than three-quarters of adults born in Texas still live there."
We are not saying that the "Texas way" applies to everybody. What we are saying is that it is working well for Texas, and even the BBC is paying attention.
