Back to school and a song about "September"

This is "See you in September" by The Tempos.  It was included in the soundtrack of "American Graffiti"!

It is my favorite of the "school is over" songs. There is also a great version by The Happenings!

I look forward to September and a little relief from this heat.

"I'll be alone each and every night
While you're away, don't forget to write
See you in September
See you when the summer's through
Here we are saying goodbye at the station
Summer vacation is taking you away
Have a good time but remember
There is danger in the summer moon above
Will I see you in September
Or lose you to a summer love?
Counting the days 'til I'll be with you
Counting the hours and the minutes too
Have a good time but remember
There is danger in the summer moon above
Will I see you in September
Or lose you to a summer love?"

Septembers past, back to school and a great new song by The Rolling Stones!

A few days ago, I was driving around and heard "Dandelion" by The Rolling Stones.

It was one of my favorite songs from those "school days" when we collected 45s and kept an eye on the cute girl having lunch in the cafeteria.  (There were lots of cute girls around!)

It seems like only yesterday but it was a lot of years ago.

Click here for the song.  I always loved the ending of the song, specially Charlie Watts' drums.

"Prince or pauper, beggar man or thing
Play the game with ev'ry flow'r you bring
Dandelion don't tell no lies Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries Blow away dandelion
One o'clock, two o'clock, three o'clock, four o'clock chimes
Dandelions don't care about the time
Dandelion don't tell no lies Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries Blow away dandelion, blow away dandelion
Tho' you're older now its just the same
You can play this dandelion game
When you're finished with your childlike prayers
Well, you know you should wear it
Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailors lives
Rich man, poor man, beautiful, daughters wives
Dandelion don't tell no lies Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries Blow away dandelion, blow away dandelion
Little girls, and boys come out to play
Bring your dandelions to blow away
Dandelion don't tell no lies Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion, blow away dandelion....."

1944: Young George H W Bush and World War II service

We remember today a very young George Bush in 1944.
The story is that the future President’s plane was shot down leaving him floating in the shark infected waters for hours. He was eventually found by a US submarine in the area.
The young Navy pilot flew 58 combat missions, won 3 Air Medals as well as a Presidential Unit Citation.
Great story!
