Raul's "reforms" PLUS another wave of repression in Cuba

As we focus on Iowa, Iran and other issues, let's not forget Cuba, that communist dictatorship 90 miles south of Florida.

Raul Castro, Fidel's brother and hand picked dictator, wants the world to subscribe to the idea that Cuba is enjoying a renaissance, i.e. private sector reforms.

In fact, nothing has changed in Cuba except for the reality that the Castro brothers need dollars to finance their inefficient and corrupt dictatorship.

They want to end the US embargo because they desperately need US financing.  Why?  Because most countries have figured out that the Castro brothers are good at borrowing money but not good at paying them back.

They want Cuban-Americans, and others, to invest their cash in Cuba.

Again, they need cash!

We are also watching another massive wave of repression in Cuba:

Cuban independent journalist finally released from prison

Imprisoned couple, members of Cuba’s peaceful opposition, begin hunger strike
