Happy # 89 Bob Uecker

Image result for bob uecker imagesWe remember Bob Uecker who was born in Milwaukee on this day in 1935.

Once upon a time, Bob Uecker played baseball.   My guess is that most of us remember him as the radio voice of the Milwaukee Brewers and one of those funny baseball movies.

As a major league catcher (1962-67),  Uecker hit .200 in 297 games (217 starts), 146 hits, 14 HR and 74 RBI.  He played with Milwaukee and then backed Tim McCarver in the 1964 World Series.

In 1971, he came home to be the radio & TV voice of the Brewers.

Happy Australia Day to everyone down in Australia

We wish all of our friends in Australia a happy Australia Day.

Back in 1788, a group of British ships landed in what we now call Australia.   Today, Australia is one of the most stable democracies and economies in the world.  So that's another reason to say Happy Australia Day!

Happy # 63 Wayne Gretzky

We say happy birthday to
Wayne Gretzky, a.k.a. The Great One!   He was born in Canada on this day in 1961.

In the late 1970's, it was Gretzky's success with the Oilers that got me interested in hockey.
