Calling the lawyers over the sonic attacks in Cuba

Here come the lawyers, as we see in The Miami Herald: 

Several U.S victims of alleged “health attacks” in Cuba have hired a lawyer out of concern over how the U.S. government will handle their long-term medical treatment.

“That’s not at all clear,” said lawyer Mark Zaid, who represents eight of the at least 24 U.S. diplomats, intelligence officers and relatives affected by the incidents in Havana.

“Some already had to spend their own money” on treatment, he added, mostly because of State Department bureaucratic regulations, presumably designed to save money.

“For example if you have an appointment at 3 p.m. at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) and a follow-up visit the next day, the rules say that you have to drive or take the train (home) and return the next day,” he said. “That’s ridiculous.” 

I can understand the diplomats’ reaction if they’ve spent their own money.  After all, they were working on diplomatic assignments.

No matter what, the US should take care of the diplomats and continue to investigate the incident. It’s hard to believe that these sonic attacks just happened out of the blue and targeted only US diplomats.

We will learn more over the next few months.

We remember Charles Krauthammer (1950-2018)

We learned that the great Charles Krauthammer passed away.   As you may remember, he wrote a letter a few weeks ago telling us of his declining condition.

We remember Charles for his political commentary and a great book:

The media keeps making it very easy for Trump to say "fake news"..............

   

Have you heard about the now infamous TIME cover:  "Time Magazine Corrects Cover Story on Crying Migrant Girl, Admits Family Was Never Separated."

At this pace, the media will reelect Trump.   In other words, the more that they hate him, the more that they misreport news and the more that they help him say "fake news"

Who knew that the media would end up being Trump's best ally?

LO talking nonsense in Mexico.......

Have you heard the latest from Lopez-Obrador down in Mexico?    We understand that he is the front runner, according to the polls.    However, his latest statement sounds more like a desperate candidate rather than someone with a safe lead in the polls.

This is what LO said:   

Mexican presidential candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) called for mass immigration to the United States during a speech Tuesday declaring it a “human right” for all North Americans.“And soon, very soon — after the victory of our movement — we will defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world,” Obrador said, adding that immigrants “must leave their towns and find a life in the United States.”He then declared it as “a human right we will defend,” eluniversal.com reports.While the election is not until July 1, Obrador is by far the frontrunner.

Now, let's analyze what he said.

First, how would any of this help Mexico?   My serious Mexican friends tell me that they'd rather find prosperity and jobs in their country.

Second, is Mr. LO proposing to change Mexico's very rigid immigration laws?    Is he going to open Mexico's southern border and allow people in?

Third, does he believe that the US is just going to sit back and watch Mexicans cross the border?

The bad news is that LO's remarks are irresponsible and not helpful.     The good news is that he may be getting desperate sensing that Mr. Anaya is gaining on him.
