Josh Hamilton is only human AND he needs our prayers and support

It's easy to think that Josh Hamilton can do it all, specially after he hits one of those majestic homers or runs the bases.  Hamilton is a super player. 

However, he is also human as we learned again this week when he took a drink at a local bar.

Let me be fair:  Hamilton has not done anything illegal.  He gets weekly drug tests and alcohol is not a violation of anything.  However, he'd better off avoiding alcohol and staying sober.

I'm not making excuses but it was a tough year for Hamilton.

First, he had to live up to an MVP year.  I think that Hamilton's 2010 season was one of the best ones that we've seen in baseball for years.  He was good in 2010 despite missing the last 30 games with a rib injury.

Second, he got hurt in the 10th game of 2011 and had to sit around until June.

Third, he had to endure the tragedy of a fan falling to his death.  Hamilton had thrown the ball into the left field seats and the fan fell down 20 feet to his death.  He was at the game with his son.  It was a terrible tragedy for the family and Hamilton.

Fourth, the post season was hell for Hamilton.  He played hurt every day.

Again, I'm not making excuses but it's not easy being Josh Hamilton.
So let's pray for Josh and hope that he is back on the field soon.

Tell your Priest or Bishop that you appreciate their stand against Pres BO's war against Catholics

As a Catholic, I am very proud that our church stands for life and marriage.  

Two weeks ago, our bishops wrote a letter protesting the Obama Administration's HHS mandates.  

It was another power grab from this White House, as Michael Gerson called it:

"Both radicalism and maliciousness are at work in Obama’s decision — an edict delivered with a sneer."

It was another indication that Pres BO truly sees too many of us as those people "who cling to our guns and religion".

Stephen P. White is a fellow in the Catholic Studies Program at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C..  He wrote something very profound about the modern Dem party:

"Recently, I warned that Democrats were in danger of becoming seen as the Party of Irreligion. 

Between its recent showing in Hosanna-Tabor and this HHS nonsense, the Obama administration seems intent on accelerating that trend. 

That doesn’t bode well for Democrats or religious freedom."

We've seen this anti-religion current in the Dem party.  It has really expressed itself in the Obama administration.

It took a lot of courage to write that letter and we should show our support the next time that you go to mass or visit the church.  Tell your priest that you support what the bishops did!

We've said that 2012 is a critical election.  I think that many of our bishops and priests instinctively understand that very well!

Pres BO found "class warfare" in the Bible BUT nothing about respect for life

President BO brought up Jesus' teachings at the latest prayer breakfast.  He tried to connect his "class warfare" rhetoric to The New Testament.  

He also told us that he prays often.  I'm very happy to hear that.

However, it's hard to follow Pres BO's trip through the New Testament.  What book is he reading?  What version?

He found support for BO-Care, "raising taxes on the rich" and probably going around the US Senate to make appointments to the NLRB.  

I'm sure that he also found something about taking care of your fellow "bundler" who invested in Solyndra OR standing by an Attorney General who can't answer a question about Fast & Furious.

However, he did not find anything at all about respect for life or traditional marriage.  

We would encourage Pres BO to read The New Testament again.  I think that he must have reading the Rev Wright edition!

CIVILITY UPDATE: Pro-abortion forces throw condoms at Catholic school girls who were standing for life!

A few days ago, a group of Catholic school girls marched against abortion in Rhode Island.  They were well behaved, sang songs and prayed.

They were met by "adults" who yelled at them and concluded their little act by throwing "condoms" to the girls.

Where is the outrage?  I repeat that we are talking about adults doing something like this to a group of girls!

We call on Pres BO to do another Tucson speech and call on everyone to "get along" and respect those of us who "disagree with him".

8.3% unemployment, the 63.7% participation rate and will a Dem stand up and call for AG Holder to resign?

Another Friday and more confusing figures about the state of the US economy. 

Don't get me wrong.  I like it when people are working and the economy is growing.  Unfortunately, I can't figure out the state of the US economy.

The good news is that the unemployment dropped to 8.3% but the bad news is that the participation went up to 63.7%.

Translation:  More people are working because more people have given up looking for work.  Or something like that!

Tyle Durden explained it this way:

"A month ago, we joked when we said that for Obama to get the unemployment rate to negative by election time, all he has to do is to crush the labor force participation rate to about 55%.

Looks like the good folks at the BLS heard us: it appears that the people not in the labor force exploded by an unprecedented record 1.2 million.

No, that's not a typo: 1.2 million people dropped out of the labor force in one month!

So as the labor force increased from 153.9 million to 154.4 million, the non institutional population increased by 242.3 million meaning, those not in the labor force surged from 86.7 million to 87.9 million.

Which means that the civilian labor force tumbled to a fresh 30 year low of 63.7% as the BLS is seriously planning on eliminating nearly half of the available labor pool from the unemployment calculation.

As for the quality of jobs, as withholding taxes roll over Year over year, it can only mean that the US is replacing high paying FIRE jobs with low paying construction and manufacturing. So much for the improvement. "

Yes, Pres BO will bang the 8.3% number and that's understandable because he is up for reelection.  However, it is the 63.7% that is really impacting people.

On another issue, it's hard to think of a more disgraceful performance than what we saw from AG Holder before Congress. 

Who is giving this man advice?  Is someone actually telling AG Holder that people find him credible?

As expected, AG Holder is accusing his critics of playing politics.   We recalling how he was playing "the race card" last time.

This is a bit ironic because it was AG Holder who went after CIA agents who were doing their duty or following orders.  It was AG Holder who did not hesitate to play politics with their professional reputation or pandering to the left by trying to put KSM on trial in New York City.

Where are we?  AG Holder claims that he did not know a thing about "Fast & Furious" YET he refused to provide the information that will prove that.

Where is the Dem who puts country over politics and calls for AG Holder to resign?
