The Democrats should have listened to Mr. Clinton

Former President Bill Clinton is ethically challenged, among other things. He is probably not the kind of man that you would want your sister married to. However, he does have a good idea of how to win elections — he won two of them!
In October, President Clinton warned the Democrats about a couple of things: ObamaCare and white workers.
This is what he said about ObamaCare:
“So you’ve got this crazy system where all of a sudden 25 million more people have health care and then the people who are out there busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week, wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half.
It’s the craziest thing in the world,” Clinton said.
He tried to clean up later, but everybody knew that he was right the first time. ObamaCare is indeed the craziest thing in the world.
With respect to white workers, he said this:
“There’s a lot of road rage out there because after the financial crash, it took a long time before incomes started going up again. There are still some families that if you adjust for inflation, their incomes are about what they were the last day I was president more than 15 years ago and their costs are going up. And that’s really tough,” the former president drawled as he campaigned on behalf of his wife, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
“So when you get up every morning, and you look in the mirror and you don’t think you’ve got the power to make tomorrow better than today, that’s a pretty tough load to carry,” he told an audience that included union laborers.
Is there a bigger indictment of the Obama years than that?
On election day, these two warnings came back to haunt Mrs. Clinton and the Democrats. This is how Jim Tankersley explained it:
On Tuesday, their frustrations helped elect Donald Trump, the first major-party nominee of the modern era to speak directly and relentlessly to their economic and cultural fears.
It was a “Brexit” moment in America, a revolt of working-class whites who felt stung by globalization and uneasy in a diversifying country where their political power had seemed to be diminishing.
And so they voted for Trump, a man who took the time to say what many of them are feeling.
Memo to Democrats: You’ve been wiped from the Atlantic coast to the California border, i.e. 34 governors and countless state legislatures.
The Democrats cannot compete unless they care as much for white workers as “indocumentados”, a woman’s right to choose an abortion or boys who think they are girls and want to go to a girl’s bathroom.
It is the Democrats on the wrong side of history these days.
