1845: A little history of Texas

As we teach our kids in Texas, our state has a long history going back to Mexico, the independent republic of Texas to the current state of Texas.

Here is a little history for you:

"On this day in 1845, a majority of the citizens of the independent Republic of Texasapprove a proposed constitution, that when accepted by the Congress, will make Texas the 28th American state.........."

So that's the rest of the story, as a famous radio host used to say.   By the way, the Michener book about Texas is interesting.
