(My new American Thinker post)
On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 is smart and 10 is really dumb), we rate the IRS targeting "tea party & patriots" story as a triple 10! It ranks up there with Manny Ramirez "cutting off" a cut-off throw from the centerfielder to the shortstop!
Of course, Manny's antics are funny and they happened on a baseball field. There is nothing funny about the IRS playing politics. This is even more scary now that we learn about the way that the IRS will work with ObamaCare:
We are very happy to read that The Washington Post is calling for a full IRS investigation. The Wall Street Journal is outraged too. Good to see both sides coming together on this.
The Obama administration is already bringing "Bush" into it. I guess that everything is Bush's fault with this crowd! The problem is that it was the IRS on Obama's watch who admitted to targeting conservatives NOT the Bush IRS making life difficult for pro-abortion groups.
The bottom line is that the IRS is not supposed to be a political tool. Millions of Americans file tax returns or forms on the assumption that the IRS will not look at their numbers or data with a "partisan" eye.
We need more than a bureaucratic apology from someone who is apparently not "good at math".
We need for President Obama to do what he never did on "Fast & Furious" or Benghazi. We need a speech to the nation admitting that people in his administration violated the law and that someone will go to jail for this. We also need to know why this practice has apparently being in place since 2011!
The issue won't go away until President Obama acts like a man and admits that something very bad happened on his watch.
As we wrote before, IRS computers are not manufactured to target "tea party groups"! Someone in the IRS made the decision to do this.
This issue won't go away until we find out who did it and why.

"When
Obamacare's individual mandate takes effect in 2014, all Americans who
file income tax returns must complete an additional IRS tax form. The
new form will require disclosure of a taxpayer's personal identifying
health information in order to determine compliance with the Affordable
Care Act's individual mandate."
