Maloney broke with Cincinnati in 1960 and become one of the best right handers in the National League: 134 games with a 3.19 ERA. Maloney won 89 games over a five year span, 1963-67.
On June 14, 1965, Maloney pitched a great game and lost 1-0: 11 innings against the Mets, including 10 no-hit innings to start the game.....18 strikeouts and and two hits and a walk.
Maloney pitched a no-hitter later against the Cubs and won 20 games in 1965. Injuries kept Maloney from pitching in the Reds’ championship teams of the 1970s.
Maloney was elected to the Reds’ Hall of Fame.
