Happy # 83 Jim Maloney

We remember Jim Maloney who was born in Fresno, CA on this day in 1940.
Maloney broke with Cincinnati in 1960 and become one of the best right handers in the National League:  134 games with a 3.19 ERA.   Maloney won 89 games over a five year span, 1963-67.
Maloney pitched a no-hitter later against the Cubs and won 20 games in 1965.  Injuries kept Maloney from pitching in the Reds’ championship teams of the 1970s.
Maloney was elected to the Reds’ Hall of Fame.
