Who started this war?

Who started this war?:

When it comes to Iran, history shows with absolute certainty that we’re not the aggressor.

-----------------------------

o, President Trump started this war? Well, that’s the popular refrain coming from many Democrats these days. I guess that they want you to believe that Iran was sort of like “Alice in Wonderland” until the Orange Man decided to mess up paradise. Iran was innocent Alice, building underground facilities and manufacturing long-range rockets in violation of existing agreements.

Well, let’s see who really started this war.

On this day in 1983, President Reagan was getting ready for reelection and talking about the economic recovery underway. However, he woke up learning of a major terrorist attack in Beirut: The explosion killed 220 Marines, 18 sailors, and three soldiers! Let’s remember the awful details:

A suicide bomber drives a truck packed with explosives into the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, killing 241 U.S. military personnel. That same morning, 58 French soldiers were killed in their barracks two miles away in a separate suicide terrorist attack. The U.S. Marines were part of a multinational force sent to Lebanon in August 1982 to oversee the Palestinian withdrawal from Lebanon. From its inception, the mission was plagued with problems–and a mounting body count.

It was a terrible day for President Reagan and the nation. It was also one of the early signs of terrorism. Furthermore, it was evidence that Iran was the “banker” of terrorist acts. Are you familiar with Hezbollah? They did it.

According to an investigation published by The Marine Times:

What ensued was the largest nonnuclear blast in history, according to statements from FBI forensic experts at the time, initially lifting the barracks building off its foundations, according to the Pentagon’s December 1983 investigation into the event. Shortly after, another bomber drove a truck into a building that housed French peacekeepers, part of the same multinational force as the Marines.

The bombing remains the largest single-day loss of life for Marines since the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II.

So please don’t tell me that Trump started this. Iran, and its well-financed gangs, have been at war with the US and the West for quite some time.

1993: Carter wins it for Toronto

Let’s turn the clock back to 1993 and remember a very happy night in Canada.   Joe Carter hit a walk off HR to win the World Series.  It was the first walk off HR since Mazeroski in 1960.
And yet it was a back to back championships for Toronto.   They beat Atlanta in 1992!
