Two good men ready to govern

This is the best GOP convention since 1980, or the year that Reagan accepted the nomination in Detroit.

I should add that 2000 was also good, or the time that Bush-Cheney left Philadelphia with a great message and a very united party.

We selected great teams back then and we did the same this time.

The Romney-Ryan team took a step in the right direction by making the case that this is a "choice election", a choice between the failed Western European model or the American way that gave us prosperity and freedom.

There were some great lines out of this convention.  My favorite came from our soon to be VP-Ryan.  He said that "everything was free except us", a reference to the totalitarian nature of socialism or liberalism.  That was good!

Last, but not least, there was Romney.  He is not a great speaker but he spoke well.  He is not Ryan or Rubio behind the podium but he does not have to be.  He must convince millions that he is ready to take over and do the most difficult job on earth.  I think that he did.  In fact, I agree with Barry Casselman that Romney is a "man taking charge":

"The Mitt Romney I heard in Tampa was a man taking charge. That does not guarantee he will win in November, although I think he will, but it does mean that, after all previous jobs and responsibilities, the years of campaigning, the ambition and the preparation, Mitt Romney knows he is ready to take up the toughest job anyone in public life is ever going to have."
