We say happy birthday to Rick Derringer who was born in Ohio on this day in 1947. He became a huge rock guitarist playing with lots of bands.
Rick started with The McCoys, the classic garage band of the 1960's. They were just a bunch of young guys playing rock music. Rick was only 19 when they had a big hit "Hang on Sloopy", "Fever" and "Come on let's go", originally recorded by Richie Valens. After that, he went solo and enjoyed a lot of success, too.
