A word about June 2

We remember June 2:

"The Great Bambino":   Babe Ruth retired from baseball in 1935.

June 2, 1941: Joe DiMaggio extended his streak to # 19 on the way to 56.

"Leave it to Beaver":    We remember Jerry Mathers who was born in Iowa on this day in 1948.   Mathers will always be "The Beaver" in "Leave it to Beaver", one of the most popular TV shows ever.

"The streak":    Lou Gehrig took himself out of the Yankees' lineup in 1939.    It ended the consecutive game streak at 2,130 games, from 1925 to 1939!   Lou died two years later in 1941.

"White House wedding":    President Cleveland married Frances Folsom on this day in 1886.

Rock and roll:    We remember Charlie Watts, the wonderful drummer of The Rolling Stones.    He was born on this day in 1941 and died in 2021.
