It’s better late than never. Thanks for confirming what many of us suspected. In other words, much of the media was in the tank against Trump. This is the story:
Two former Politico reporters, Marc Caputo of Axios and Tara Palmeri of Puck, claimed there were instances in which they felt their ex-employer either killed or resisted negative stories about former President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden on a podcast earlier this week.
Their conversation on Palmeri’s podcast Somebody’s Gotta Win arrived at that point after Caputo submitted that the press has lost the public’s trust by erroneously declaring true or plausible information “misinformation,” and cited the infamous Hunter Biden laptop story as an example.
“Politico did that terrible, ill-fated headline: 51 intelligence agents, or former intelligence agents, say that the Hunter Biden laptop was disinformation, or bore the hallmarks of disinformation. Turns out that story was closer to disinformation because the Hunter Biden laptop appeared to be true,” he observed.
“But then Facebook also pulled all stories down about the Hunter Biden laptop, and I think Twitter did at the same time, too,” jumped in Palmeri.
“Correct, they punished the New York Post, that didn’t help. I mean, Politico, my former employer and I knew at the time, didn’t do itself any favors,” said Caputo. “I was covering Biden at the time, and I remember coming to my editor and saying, ‘Hey, we need to write about the Hunter Biden laptop.’ And I was told this came from on high at Politico: Don’t write about the laptop, don’t talk about the laptop, don’t tweet about the laptop. And the only thing Politico wound up writing was that piece that called it disinformation, which charitably could be called misinformation, at the least.”
Gosh — I remember when we were called “conspiracists” for thinking that the media was out to protect Hunter Biden.
To be fair, we need to hear from Politico. They need to deny these charges and convince us that everything was on the level. Furthermore, the infamous “51” need to come before Congress and tell us how they knew that the laptop was disinformation.
Maybe it does not matter because Trump won, CNN is laying off people and MSNBC is a national joke. At the same time, it would be nice to know how the news was manipulated to benefit one side. My guess is that they were caught up in Trump Derangement Syndrome and hung their credibility at the door. Everything in the name of beating Trump, or something like that.

Perhaps President Trump knows best, because tariffs against Mexico would hurt that country a lot. This is what they are reporting south of the border:
President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on Mexico could limit economic growth to 0.6% in 2025, financial services company Moody’s Ratings warned on Monday.
“Our estimates indicate that the Mexican economy would lose around 1 percentage point of growth in 2025. We are estimating that Mexico would only grow 0.6% this year,” said Director of Economic Analysis for Latin America at Moody’s Analytics Alfredo Coutiño in an online conference Tuesday.
On January 17, the International Monetary Fund predicted Mexico would see economic growth of 1.4% in 2025. The revised Moody’s forecast suggests growth may falter in the wake of U.S. tariffs causing trade to slow.
Ouch, that hurts. To be fair, we'd be hurt too because Mexico exports a lot to the U.S. Texas, for example, does a lot of business with Mexico. On balance, Mexico would suffer more.
Are tariffs inevitable? Let's hope that the issue can be resolved.
Mexico can start by recognizing that it has a terrible national security issue with so many criminal elements ("crimen organizado" as they say) living in the neighborhood. These cartels (as we call them) terrorize local governments and journalists and have too much cash to spend.
Second, it can close the southbound border and stop all the guns and cash headed that way. Mexico complains that guns are going south but they do nothing about it. As for the cash, it gets washed in businesses and bribes politicians. Mexicans hate to hear that, but it's the truth.
Third, they can go back to a time when Mexicans controlled their southern border. Once upon not a very long time ago, Mexico had agents at bus stations stopping Central Americans and sending them home. Today, the word is out that you can travel to the U.S. border as long as you pay someone to take you there.
To be fair, the Mexicans are right that we are consuming the drugs. We should do better, but Mexico needs to understand just how damaging the open border is to them, too.
Maybe Mexico will accept some responsibility and sit down with the Trump administration to fix this border crisis. I hope so, because their economy will be devastated if the tariffs go through.

It did not take long before President Trump reversed one of President Biden's most outrageous decisions. In other words, the corrupt Cuban dictatorship is back where it belongs. Here is the story:
President Donald Trump’s swift action after his Monday inauguration to return Cuba to the list of countries that support terrorism is a necessary step to uphold U.S. national security interests -- and to show the island government that Trump, whom they hate, is back.
The change to Cuba’s status came as Trump signed 78 executive orders on Day One of his presidency.
Thank God. What were they thinking in the Biden administration? They weren't thinking at all, because once again, a Democrat President gets nothing in return from the Cuban dictatorship. At least, President Obama got to do the wave with Raul Castro at a baseball game. Wonder if President Biden got a thank you note from the leadership?
Yes, this will be a popular decision in Florida. I get it. At the same time, the Trump message is simple: We love the Cuban people but hate the corrupt communists who grabbed power years ago. Furthermore, we don't like regimes that support terrorism or undermine the safety of their citizens.
What will we do next? Here are a couple of ideas. No more Russian military ships visiting Havana harbor. No more foreign-owned hotels (joint ventures with the Cuban military) that discriminate against Cubans because only tourists with dollars can enjoy those facilities. Last but not least, we will enforce the U.S. embargo like never before to show the thugs in Cuba that we are serious about liberating the Cuban people.
