She started in Cuban radio, then became the lead singer for La Sonora Matancera, the greatest Cuban orchestra of the 1940s and 1950s. In the 1970s, Celia went global and her tours were sold out everywhere.
She died July 16, 2003.
Celia's music touched all of us Cubans in the US.
