This is why nobody watches CNN
We've posted this year about CNN's ratings collapse. Nobody is watching the network.
President Biden's Town Hall at CNN is Exhibit A of why you see people reading books rather than watching “the first name in the news” at airports. How much crap can a good man take?
I agree with Jack Butler's summary of this farce:
If CNN had any shame or respect for the citizens of a self-governing republic, the network would never air one of these idiotic events again. But don’t expect that to happen anytime soon.
Of course, if CNN had any shame then it would have put a serious host rather than a partisan.
First, the host would have asked President Biden's about Delaware's voting laws, i.e. Isn't easier to vote in Texas rather than Delaware, Mr. President?
Second, a real host would have challenged President Biden about his claim of wanting to unite the country, i.e. How are you uniting the country Mr. President by issuing executive orders rather than finding common ground?
Third, Mr. President, what scientist told you that it's O.K. to bring a million people in the middle of pandemic?
It was a waste of time. Did we learn anything? I didn’t. Did you?
The only good news is that most people did not watch it.

Maybe Megan and her pals need to focus on soccer
The U.S. soccer ladies had a little surprise this week. This is the story:
The United States women’s soccer team didn’t just lose their Olympic opener to Sweden 3-0 here on Wednesday. They were dominated in the kind of shocking fashion that rarely happens to the Americans.
“We got our asses kicked, didn’t we?” Megan Rapinoe said after.
Sweden’s Stina Blackstenius scored in the 25th minute to set the tone and then added another goal in the 54th off a corner kick. Midfielder Lina Hurtig added insult to injury with a header in the 72nd minute.
It was part of an overwhelming effort that made the U.S. look awful. They entered this event as heavy favorites (-185 on BetMGM) to take gold. They were riding 44-game unbeaten streak, including seven straight wins to capture the 2019 World Cup.
Yes Megan, you did get your you know what kicked.
The ladies may turn it around and go on to win another title. Frankly, I hope that they do. At the same time, this wakeup call may just be what the team needs to realize that their focus has been on off the field issues that turn off people like me.
Maybe the coach should give the ladies a speech like this: Girls, this is a soccer ball. This is the U.S. flag. You have to keep your eye on the soccer ball because you are not scoring on the field. No more politics. Play soccer.
I don't know that the coach will say that. She should!

Are there any WIN buttons in the White House basement?
Do you remember the WIN button from the Ford presidency? WIN was Whip Inflation Now, a campaign by the Ford Administration to attack inflation. Inflation came back in 1979 but the button was not big enough to deal with that case.
Maybe President Biden can design a politically correct version. Whip is too much toxic masculinity. Maybe they change it to HIN, or Hashtag Inflation Now. Or maybe they can put it on the face mask!
No matter what, inflation is here. Maybe this is why the Democrats are talking about "voting rights" because they know that the moms and dads in their districts are angry with the price of gasoline and everything else.
President Biden tried to put a happy face on inflation on Monday. He failed. Even a press madly committed to protecting him is no longer able to hide the reality that the dreaded "I" word is here.
This is from Tyler O'Neil:
“Our experts believe the data shows that most of the price increases we’ve seen were expected and are expected to be temporary. Reality is, you can’t flip the global economic light [switch] back on and not expect this to happen,” he added. “As demand returns, there’s going to be global supply chain challenges. We’ve seen that in semiconductors, which are used in automobiles. That global shortage has slowed vehicle production, creating a temporary spike in car prices.”
“That’s a real challenge,” Biden admitted. He pledged that his “administration is doing everything we can to address it. But again, these disruptions are temporary.” He noted that, after a steep increase a few months back, lumber prices have “fallen by more than 50 percent.”
Well, maybe lumber prices have fallen. Unfortunately, mom does not understand because she does not buy lumber. She is buying tortillas to beef to everything else.
It does not get better at the gas pump. We filled up our car on Saturday and it was $45 or $2.89 a gallon. It was $2.10 in January!
So inflation is here and the Biden administration looks bewildered.
