Happy # 55 Angela Gheorghih

We say happy birthday to Angela Gheorghih who was born in Romania on this day in 1965.

For years, I've been listening to the beautiful voice of Angela Gheorghih.    

Cheers for Romania.  Cheers for giving the world this beautiful woman with such an "angelic" voice.  

She sings as gorgeous as she looks.  The name "Angela" fits her just great because she has the voice of an angel.

Mr. Biden’s history lessons

The Joe Biden train stopped in Kenosha this week and we learned a few things about world history: “Joe Biden said a black man invented the light bulb, ‘not a white guy named [Thomas] Edison.“

He also said that “they’d shoot me” if continued talking about tax policies.  

 Who is going to shoot him?  I guess that no one in the media asked him about Edison, the city of Washington DC task force recommending  removing monuments or the potential shooter.

 Why would a presidential candidate say something so outrageous?

Can we say that Mr. Biden is crazy or senile yet?  

Or maybe he is reading the polls about blacks and Democrats.    According to Rasmussen, 67% of African Americans in Pennsylvania support Mr. Biden and 27% President Trump.   We don’t have the numbers for other states but I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s similar.

So why is Mr. Biden and Democrats always talking about race and telling stories about history?  My guess is that they see these polls and growing African American disenchantment.

Cuomo is getting desperate

How are things going, Governor Cuomo?  How desperate are you these days?

We learned that Cuomo said this:

“He better have an army if he thinks he’s gonna walk down the street in New York. New Yorkers don’t want to have anything to do with him,” the Democrat said, all but threatening the commander-in-chief.

But Cuomo — who, like Trump, hails from Queens — wasn’t done. “He can’t have enough bodyguards to walk through New York City, people don’t want to have anything to do with him.”

Sounds like a desperate man to me!

Of course, Cuomo is facing the political equivalent of an Aroldis Chapman fastball around your head.

On one hand, New York faces a huge budget deficit of about $30 billion.

On the other hand, the Trump administration is going to cut some federal aid for defunding the police or acting like “anarchist cities.”

My guess is that the one who is going to need a lot of bodyguards is Andrew Cuomo.  He is the one in deep trouble.

1919: President Wilson failed to persuade the public about The League of Nations

It's important for presidents to make the case for war.  Otherwise, they will lose the public.

What could we learn from President Wilson selling the US public about The League of Nations?  Let's see:

"At a stalemate with Congress, Wilson embarked on an arduous tour across the country to sell the idea of a League of Nations directly to the American people. He argued that isolationism did not work in a world in which violent revolutions and nationalist fervor spilled over national borders. He stressed that the League of Nations embodied American values of self-government and the desire to settle conflicts peacefully, and shared his vision of a future in which the international community could preempt another conflict as devastating as the First World War."

It failed because the country was tired of war.  Also, President Wilson never made the case for post-war engagement.  

In the end, the treaty failed and the US entered almost 20 years of isolationism.

Who knew that Americans cared about law and order?

A few years ago, I was reading Theodore White’s book about the 1968 election and that time that Governor George Wallace told protesters what he would do if they got in front of his car. “…if some of them lie down in front of my automobile, it’ll be the last one they want to lie down in front of.”

Today, Americans are once again worried about “law and order” and the Democrats are playing defense.

According to Tom Porter, the Biden campaign was caught off guard by Kenosha.   How do you get caught off guard about violence in a city in this environment?   That’s like a baseball manager getting caught off guard that Ricky Henderson would try to steal second!

The Biden campaign countered by blaming President Trump, his tweets, and everything else under the sun.   It won’t work because we all remember how Democrats supported all these marchers and made excuses for their bad behavior.    

Who can forget Senator Kamala Harris promoting a bail fund intended for protesters in Minnesota?   Are those the same ones that Joe Biden now wants to prosecute?  Did Biden call on Democrat mayors and governors to start arresting and prosecuting the people throwing bricks at the police or starting fires?

Yes, Americans have always cared about law and order.  It is the foundation of any civilized society.  What’s amazing is that Joe Biden’s 2020 Democrats did not figure this out the first night that Minneapolis burned.
