Baines and Smith spent much of their careers with the White Sox and Cubs, respectively. On the field, Smith finished with 478 saves in 1,022 appearances and Baines was a good hitter: .289 average, 2,866 hits, 384 HR, and 1,628 RBI in 2,830 games.
Around Texas, we remember that Harold Baines was traded here in 1989 for a young outfielder Sammy Sosa.
