Obama scandals by the minute!

Have you seen anything like this before?  The Obama administration is in a scandal-a-day mode.  Again, I have never seen this before and I remember Watergate, Iran-Contra and the Clinton Oval Office scandals.

Today, we learned that the scandals expanded to "Fast & Furious".   It looks like the DOJ tried to undermine a whistle-blower by leaking some documents.    Wonder if we will hear from the "civil lilibertarians" about that?

The other "new scandal" is about 2 Fox News reporters.

Last, but not least, there are now some doubts as to when the White House learned of the IRS story.  There are some reports that some key people knew about the IRS investigation but did not tell President Obama.

Does it make any sense that key White House staffers would keep an IRS story away from President Obama?  It makes no sense to me and we need an independent prosecutor to cut through the crap.

"Four Pinocchios" 6 months late!

(My new American Thinker post)

It's nice to read that The Washington Post gave President Obama 4 Pinnochios for what he said after the Benghazi attack:
"During the campaign, the president could just get away with claiming he said "act of terror," since he did use those words -- though not in the way he often claimed. It seemed like a bit of after-the-fact spin, but those were his actual words -- to the surprise of Mitt Romney in the debate.
But the president's claim that he said "act of terrorism" is taking revisionist history too far, given that he repeatedly refused to commit to that phrase when asked directly by reporters in the weeks after the attack. He appears to have gone out of his way to avoid saying it was a terrorist attack, so he has little standing to make that claim now.
Indeed, the initial unedited talking points did not call it an act of terrorism. Instead of pretending the right words were uttered, it would be far better to acknowledge that he was echoing what the intelligence community believed at the time--and that the administration's phrasing could have been clearer and more forthright from the start."

It's nice but 6 months late!

The media chose to ignore Benghazi.  It showed no curiosity whatsoever on the incredulous story that a YouTube video caused "a movie review club" to get angry and attack a US consulate.

No one in the media checked the calendar, i.e. the attack happened on September 11.  I'm amazed that no one saw that.  Speaking of the calendar, as well as the deteriorating situation in Benghazi, why didn't someone in the media ask President Obama about the lack of plan to defend our embassies or consulates on the anniversary of September 11?

The media did not challenge the story even after the president of Libya said that it was a terrorist attack.

We'll take the Pinocchios but they did come a little too late.

By the way, how many Pinocchios is Candy Crowley going to get?

Anger? Wait 'til people do their taxes next year?

(My new American Thinker post)

In about 9 months, Americans will come face to face with ObamaCare. It will happen when they sit down to fill out their tax returns. My guess is that most people will be angry.

ObamaCare and the IRS will work hand in hand in the implementation of the law, as Byron York points out today:

"A look at the text of the health care law reveals that much of it consists of amending the Internal Revenue Code to give the IRS more power. When Obamacare goes fully into effect in January, every American will have to prove to the IRS that he or she has "qualifying" health coverage, meaning coverage with a list of features approved by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. That will be done by submitting a document to the IRS, something like a W-2, to confirm coverage."

There is more! In simple language, the IRS will be the manager of the new law.

The IRS will ask you questions that you thought heretofore belonged in the very confidential relationship of doctors and patients.

The IRS will also need to hear about "raises" and changes in your financial condition.

Didn't a bunch of colonists threw tea in the harbor the last time that something like this happened?

The IRS and HHS will monitor the people through a "database", or a huge intrusion into your personal, financial and health information.

Again, my good guess is that most Democrats who voted for this monstrosity will shut off their phones next spring. They won't like what voters are telling them.

Many shocked Democrats will likely introduce bills in the US Senate to stop the implementation.

Others will blame their "staff" for not telling them everything that was in the bill. Some will blame Bush for invading Iraq!

Some will insult our intelligence, like Mr Axelrod this morning:

"The government is simply too big for President Obama to keep track of all the wrongdoing taking place on his watch, his former senior adviser, David Axelrod, told MSNBC. “Part of being president is there’s so much beneath you that you can’t know because the government is so vast,” he explained."

So let me get this straight. The government is too big for one man to keep track

SO we want to make the government bigger SO that he has more trouble keeping up with it?

Welcome to the era of big government. This is what big government looks like.

Now let the Democrats explain why this is better than what we had before.

Looking for a grown-up who will accept responsibility and fire somebody!

The incredible parade continues and no one has accepted responsibility for anything.  We can say that no one, and I mean no one, gets fired in this town.

Today, the AG Holder, the one who did not know that an agency of his department put 2,000 high powered weapons in the hands of deadly Mexican cartels, came to Congress and said this:

""I was not the person involved in that decision. But be that as it may, I was recused in that matter as I described in a press conference held yesterday the decision issued the subpoena was made by the people involved in the case.""

AG Holder did tell Congress that his "deputy" did it.  Yes, a certain Mr Cole did it and all questions should be directed to him.

On a related front, the White House is now blaming Treasury for the IRS going rogue.

President Obama!  AG Holder!  Is anybody running anything around here?

President BO should listen to one of the biggest "yes we can" screamers of recent years, "the madly in love with BO" Dana Milbank:

"President Passerby needs urgently to become a participant in his presidency."

You are right Dana.   You are very right indeed!

Speaking of President Obama & AG Holder, maybe they learned in the "I see nothing" school of Hogan's Heroes:

Obama and scandals: Obama always in the dark!

(My new American Thinker post)

The "scandal a day" Obama administration gave us something else to react to:

"The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative's top executive called a "massive and unprecedented intrusion" into how news organizations gather the news."

To be fair, we want the government to punish those who leak national security secrets.  "Leaks" put our people at risk.  The men and women who do these dangerous jobs deserve a government that will prosecute "leakers".

What amazes me about the AP story is that the White House is once again in the dark.

Sorry but this does not pass the smell test.

Does Jay Carney want me to believe that AG Holder can seize AP telephones records over an alleged national security "leak" and not mention it to President Obama?

Sorry but I am confused!

What's next?  Secretary Hagel announces that troops are going to Syria
and the White House learns about it on the front pages of newspapers?

When will Jay Carney walk into the Oval Office and tell President Obama that he is done making a fool of himself?

72 hours of AP, the IRS & Benghazi plus Obama looking very confused!

What a 72-hour period.  I can not reccall the last time that the news cycle saw 3 stories of this magnitude and seriousness.

The man who lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue...

(My new American Thinker post)

"In classic management theory, Barack Obama would have to be described as an abdicative manager.
The abdicative manager evidences a tendency to flee from responsibility and is frequently encountered in situations where he or she never wanted the job in the first place (for instance, a son or daughter who inherits a company or the individual who discovers that they are incapable of adequate performance).  Abdication can be exhibited in a variety of ways, ranging from physically removing oneself through travel (the confusion of movement with action), to obsessing about personal interests or a limited range of controllable subjects."
President Obama's "abdicative style" is also the byproduct of a career devoid of any managerial experience.    After all, this is a man who was elected president of the US without ever running anything.

Beyond style, President Obama seems to love being surrounded by people who idolize him, according to a review of Kenneth Walsh's new book:
"Walsh, who has covered the White House for 25 years and written several books on the presidency, credits Obama for trying to get out of the so-called "bubble," but found that instead the president often relies on a tiny cadre of Chicago aides, thus living in "a bubble within the bubble."
He called top Chicago aide Valerie Jarrett "one of the leading idolizers" who blocks the access of critics to her boss. "Jarrett has gone too far in limiting others' access to the president, according to a number of White House and congressional sources," writes Walsh in the book, due out June 1. "Her goal is to keep Obama in a cocoon of admirers who won't, in her mind, shake him up too much or present views that might be contrary to her understanding of Obama's positions.""
An "abdicative style" plus "a bad case of narcissism" is a time bomb that will consume the man who lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

President Obama survived the first term because of a media in the tank and a very effective vote gathering machine that got him 50.7% of the popular vote.

President Obama won't be so lucky in his second term.  He either gets in the game or will lose all credibility as a manager.

Speaking of "the man who lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue", The White House just said that they didn't know anything about DOJ seizing AP's phone records.
