Kuenn broke with the Tigers in 1952 and won Rookie of the Year in 1953. His 8 years in Detroit were great: .314 average and a batting title (.353) in 1959.
Kuenn retired after the 1966 season: .303 career average, 2,092 hits, 671 RBI over 1,833 games.
Later he managed the Brewers and won the AL pennant in 1982 but lost to St. Louis in the World Series.
