Bum Phillips was born in 1923 and died this week in 2013. He was 90 and quite a character, a prototypical Texan.
Phillips was the very successful coach of The Houston Oilers and a great football personality.
As a coach, he made the Oilers a very good team. Houston lost the AFL championship in 1978 and 1979 to Pittsburgh, the Super Bowl winner.
And let's not forget that he served as a Marine in World War II!
