My thoughts on women and 2012

According to a new poll, Pres BO's chances have been boosted by support from women in swing states:

"In the fifth Swing States survey taken since last fall, Obama leads Republican front-runner Mitt Romney 51%-42% among registered voters just a month after the president had trailed him by two percentage points."

Of course, Gov Romney has a + 8 advantage with men.    Therefore, Gov Romney's challenge is to close the gap.

Frankly, I find this poll a bit too "rosy" for Pres BO.  It'd be interesting to see the sample for a better appreciation.  William Gurn of The WSJ has a few questions a bout the poll, too.  I agree with him that we need to see the sample.

Also, what are the numbers for married women?   The GOP usually does better with married than single women.  What about women who attend church regularly?  Women are not a monolithic group when it comes to voting or issues.

Nevertheless, the "gender gap" will be a factor, as it has been in every election since the 1970s.

So how does the GOP "appeal" to more women?

First, let's talk about the direction of the country.

Second, what about the national debt?  Whose children will be burdened with that?

Third, Pres BO projecting weakness abroad, such as telling the President of Russia to wait until after the election for a better deal.

Fourth, the economy and and gas prices, a couple of tough issues for women.

At the end of the day, the GOP needs to draw a contrast and it will win.

We spoke about 2012 and the role of conservative women on Monday's show:
