We remember Ralph Branca (1926-2016)

We remember Ralph Branca, who was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on this day in 1926.   He died in 2016.

Branca won 88 games with a 3.79 career ERA.   He won 48 games over a 3 year period for the Dodgers.

However, he will always be remembered for that pitch & HR in the bottom of the 9th in the special 1951 playoff game:   "The Giants win the pennant"!

By the way, Branca was Bobby Valentine's father in law.
