Drop the media, and other thoughts about what they call a debate

(My new American Thinker post)

Mark me as undecided still.  I'm still looking at these candidates and trying to figure out two things:

1) Who can win?  We need someone who can get 50.1% of the vote, 270 electoral votes, or better, both, as we learned in 2000.

2) Who can govern?  Who can get 60 votes in the U.S. Senate to make anything happen?  There are going to be a lot of frustrated conservatives if we can't find a candidate who can hit 60, and I'm not talking home runs.  Can you say Iran deal or defunding Planned Parenthood?

In other words, Mr. Trump cannot build the fence or deport 11 million people without 60 votes.  That's the big difference between running Trump Inc. and the country!

This is why I'm so frustrated with these so-called debates.  The latest one was "he said, she said" for much of the night.  We are not really focusing on who can win or govern.

And then several candidates were never called on.  Why have 11 people if only 6 will get any air time?  Why not divide them into 3 groups based on polls?  The top 6, the middle 6, and everybody else!

At this stage of the campaign, the American people should hear from all of them, not just the ones who are up in the polls.

So here is my idea for the next debate: let voters call in questions.  We have all of the technology to make this happen.

My guess is that the questions will focus more on issues rather than "he said, she said."

As for the debate itself, let me say that Chris Christie had a great night.    Unlike Mrs. Fiorina, a wonderful lady from the business world who has never won an election, Governor Christie has won two in a blue state.

I agree with my friend Barry Casselman:
Chris Christie, whose poll numbers have declined over the past year, made a significant comeback employing his considerable natural communication skills, self-effacement and his command of the issues. Like Mrs. Fiorina, he effectively criticized Mrs. Clinton, and avoided petty questions and tactics.

I am not endorsing Governor Christie.  However, he does have two important qualities.  He can speak and make his case.  He won two elections in a blue state, the other guy's home field.  And he does not walk away from tough issues.
