Let's the add the liberal, but serious, editorial page of The Washington Post to the long list of people who think that President Obama's foreign policy is a fantasy.
In fact, that's the title of the editorial: President Obama’s foreign policy is based on fantasy
I could re-print the whole thing but let me give you two amazing lines:
Translation: anybody afraid of Obama? Not really!
Later on, you will read this in the aforementioned editorial:
The Washington Post has opened a new door and it's about time that serious Democrats wake up.
Perhaps they should write a follow up to the editorial and call it "The making of a fantasy 2008".
Maybe they can admit that the US news media allowed this "fantasy" to take hold because too many reporters were unwilling to challenge the candidate's talking points or promises to "un-Bush" the world.
So far, the "un-bush-ing" of the world is not going well. Just ask the Japanese, Taiwanese and the people of Ukraine.

"Mr. Obama is not responsible for their misbehavior. But he does, or could, play a leading role in structuring the costs and benefits they must consider before acting."That's true. However, is any bad guy in the world today contemplating the costs of his bad behavior? China agrees with Russia over Ukraine.

"The White House often responds by accusing critics of being warmongers who want American “boots on the ground” all over the world and have yet to learn the lessons of Iraq.We are always grateful when people see the light. It's going to be very difficult for the Obama team to say that criticism of his foreign policy is GOP bashing, disguised racism, or the work of another Koch Brothers PAC.
So let’s stipulate: We don’t want U.S. troops in Syria, and we don’t want U.S. troops in Crimea.
A great power can become overextended, and if its economy falters, so will its ability to lead. None of this is simple.
But it’s also true that, as long as some leaders play by what Mr. Kerry dismisses as 19th-century rules, the United States can’t pretend that the only game is in another arena altogether.
Military strength, trustworthiness as an ally, staying power in difficult corners of the world such as Afghanistan — these still matter, much as we might wish they did not.
While the United States has been retrenching, the tide of democracy in the world, which once seemed inexorable, has been receding. In the long run, that’s harmful to U.S. national security, too."
