My friend Allan Wall goes to Cuba

We've had Allan Wall on our show to talk about Mexico many times.   Allan lived in Mexico and follows the country closely.   He is a good writer who does his homework.

Allan just visited Cuba and offered some very interesting thoughts about life in the island nation:

"We found the Cuban people to be very friendly, and we never had any negative experiences with anybody during our week there.
In recent years there has been some opening up of Cuban society.   Nevertheless, it is still a communist country with everything that implies.  The Castro brothers (Fidel and Raul) have been in power there since Eisenhower was president of the United States.  Multiparty elections are not held and dissidents are still repressed."
He found that Cubans are friendly and the island is naturally beautiful.    Allan noticed the pictures of the Castro brothers, the communist slogans and the Che personality cult.

He also observed the shortages and the decaying island's infrastructure.
He concluded with a wonderful message to those who still have any romantic attachment to the communist regime:
"After disembarking and entering the Mexico City terminal, we felt we were in a free country again."
We will have Allan on the show this weekend.
