More intolerance from the people who preach tolerance
Just came across this gem from the University of Texas down in Austin. Please check this out:
The Autonomous Student Network in Austin, Texas, a group that was previously suspended from Twitter after posting private information belonging to supporters of then-Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh, is now threatening to do the same to incoming University of Texas-Austin freshmen who join conservative student organizations.
"Hey #UT23! Do you wanna be famous? If you join YCT [Young Conservatives of Texas] or Turning Point USA, you just might be. Your name and more could end up on an article like one of these," the group tweeted earlier in June, linking to a page on its website, on which it previously posted the private information, including emails and phone numbers, of Kavanaugh supporters.
"So be sure to make smart choices at #UTOrientation," the group added.
Yes make a smart choice and avoid those young conservatives. Come to us and we'll teach how to hate the country, the flag, and bring down every statue of a white male European.
To their credit, the university heard about it and came down hard on the threats. Good for them.
The larger point is that these leftist groups define diversity as agreeing with them. They do not tolerate dissent and will destroy your reputation if they can get away it.

Maybe the soccer ladies should check out the NBA's ratings
Surprise, but the U.S. soccer ladies are back for another season or something like that. Frankly, I did not know they were gone in the first place, but that's probably because I don't watch soccer. The ladies now want all of us to know they are really interested in human decency, or so they say:
We wear Black Lives Matter to affirm human decency.
This is not political, it’s a statement on human rights.
Thank you for telling us that preaching about BLM is not political. Thank you even more for telling us that it's your "duty" to do this. Sorry, but duty is a police officer who protects you and me. Duty is a soldier defending our freedom. Playing soccer is a skill, and these ladies are good at it. But it is not your duty to do anything.
Talk about a bunch of self-appointed virtue-signalers taking themselves way too seriously. I'm sure that millions of people sat around all year just waiting to hear what these ladies had to say about this or anything else.
I think that Lebron and his pals said something like that before the entire country tuned out the NBA.
Good luck with your upcoming games, but don't expect a lot of your fellow citizens to watch you playing.

Stay home rather than go south
Over my 30-something years in Texas, I've learned this:
1) There are lots of tamales consumed in our area between Thanksgiving and Christmas; and,
2) Many Mexicans use "Navidad" to cross the border both ways. It's almost a guarantee that your Mexican friend will ride down to see family this time of the year. I've met people who travel from Illinois and Indiana all the way down to the interior of Mexico.
Well, 2020 may spoil those plans. According to the CDC, we need to keep away from Mexico, especially those who are more vulnerable. It got more specific on the Texarkana Gazette:
The warning came Saturday, only days before Thanksgiving, when thousands of travelers typically flock to Mexico's tourist destinations. In the advisory, the CDC said people may increase their chance of getting and spreading COVID-19 by traveling there.
The warning also noted that if people become infected with COVID-19 while traveling abroad, they may be denied re-entry.
"If you are exposed to someone with COVID-19 during travel, you might be quarantined and not permitted to return to the United States until 14 days after your last known exposure," according to the advisory.
Mexico's Ministry of Health reported 1,049,358 confirmed coronavirus cases and 101,926 COVID-19 deaths in the country as of Monday.
The top three global destinations for U.S. travelers this year are in Mexico: Cancun, San Jose del Cabo and Puerto Vallarta.
"Mexico has been a leader in tourism recovery since COVID-19 began," according to the Allianz insurance company. "The country's accessibility and safety protocols, such as the restricted capacity at resorts to allow for adequate social distancing, may be helping to drive demand, coupled with the promise of a warm-climate escape."
But in all three of those tourist destinations, there has been a high rate of COVID-19.
What an economic shock to Mexico. By the way, the 101,926 dead figure is interesting, considering that Mexico has a third of our population. Furthermore, I am not sure that such figure is reliable anyway. Everyone that I talk to in Mexico believes that the death figure is higher than the official numbers.
The impact will go beyond tourist locations. The aforementioned people who drive to Mexico bring cash and spend money in their hometowns. They are a source of cash and support for people, although I have never been able to find a dollar figure.
So projected president Biden wants to open the border? Call Dr. Fauci at the CDC!

Obama wrong again
Once upon a time, retired Presidents took long walks like President Harry Truman or showed up at baseball games like President George W. Bush. It was seen as "unpresidential" for former presidents to stick their noses in the political arena.
Not so President Obama. He can say anything he wants and the media will not challenge him at all, at least never to his face.
President Obama this week spoke about Hispanics voting for President Trump. He said this:
“… There’s a lot of evangelical Hispanics who, the fact that Trump says racist things about Mexicans, or puts undocumented workers in cages, they think that’s less important than the fact that he supports their views on gay marriage or abortion."
Well, the bit about putting "undocumented workers" in cages is a bit strange coming from the man who built those cages and was given the nickname "deporter in chief".
Not sure what "racist things" President Trump said about Mexicans. He did speak about illegal immigration or crime on the border. Is that racist? Well, it wasn't when a guy named Obama said the same.
So what's up with Obama? He knows that no one will challenge him no matter what he says.

The Supreme Court and new House are President Trump's immediate legacy
For the record, I'm hoping that President Trump wins every challenge or the election goes to the House and he wins 26-24. At the same time, it may not happen unless something changes very fast over the next couple of weeks.
Nevertheless, President Trump accomplished three things that will make it very difficult for a President Biden to govern.
First, the appointments to the Supreme Court. My guess is that this Court is going to drive the left crazy when President Biden tries to govern by executive orders.
Second, the new conservative women in the House. They are pro-life and hate socialism. These ladies will drive Nancy Pelosi crazy, especially when her own fragile majority falls apart. They are a diverse group and confirm another Trump success with minorities, as Liz Peek wrote about Proposition 16 in deep blue California:
While African Americans might have been swayed by the promise of more access to higher education if admissions were based on race, Hispanics and Asians may have thought that affirmative action programs would work to their detriment.
It is noteworthy that despite every major Latino organization promoting Prop 16, every single majority-Hispanic county voted against it.
Last, and not least, the GOP success in state legislatures will mean that 2022 districts will look different than 2020. There are many Democrats who will have to decide between a new career or running in a more conservative-friendly district.
No matter what, Trump leaves behind a stronger and diverse GOP, a better Supreme Court, and a media that will miss him a lot more than they realize.

Fools rush in: From Obama's Nobel to Cuomo's Emmy
Back in 2009, the "Nobelistas" decided to go full "anti-George W Bush" and awarded the Peace Prize to Barack Obama. It was so foolish that Nobel secretary Geir Lundestad admitted in 2015 that President Obama failed to achieve what the committee hoped that he would. Apparently, the "Nobelistas" anticipated that Obama's words and speeches would create a reign of peace all over the world. Peace didn't happen, so disappointment followed.
A few days ago, we learned that the Emmys decided to go full "anti-Trump" and give Governor Cuomo a special award for his handling of the virus in New York.
As with Obama's Nobel Peace Prize, no one can understand this one either. Yesterday, a couple of sons decided to tell us what they think of this award:
The Arbeeny brothers' father passed away while undergoing rehab in a New York nursing home. Daniel Arbeeny said their family tragically lost a total of five relatives that same week -- four dying from COVID-19; three from nursing home exposure.
“My father was a vivacious 88-year-old man who was still working at 88,” he said. “Very sharp.”
Peter Arbeeny said Cuomo doesn’t deserve to be praised for his response to the pandemic now that he and his brother are “COVID orphans.”
“He deserves an Academy Award for directing and creating a horror show in nursing homes,” he said. “His March 25 directive to put positive COVID patients back into nursing homes was done without any science, and thousands of people died. And me and my brother stand before the American people as COVID orphans.”
“The governor needs to own his mistakes," he went on. "He needs to apologize for his mistakes and we need closure and an investigation into this order to protect the most vulnerable."
When the brothers were able to take their father out of the nursing home, Daniel Arbeeny said they witnessed first-hand how “bad” conditions were at the peak of the virus due to lack of support.
Yes, let's show the world how much we hate President Trump by recognizing a man who does not deserve any award at all.

It was a bloody communist who killed JFK
As a kid in Cuba, I sat with my father and watched Fidel Castro on Cuban TV talk about the Kennedy assassination. I don't remember what he said, but my dad told me later that Castro was very nervous. I guess he felt that President Johnson would use the assassination to correct the mistake of the Bay of Pigs. A few days later, I heard my father and some of his friends say the same thing over a little Cuban coffee and cigars.
It was a tense time in Cuba because the Castro regime was locking up dissidents, such as my father's cousin, Dr. Ignacio Segurola, who spent 14 years in prison without a trial. My mother told me recently that she was afraid that my own father would be picked up because he refused to take a job with the newly created national bank that replaced all the privately owned banks expropriated (or as they say "nationalized") during that time.
Over time, I've heard all of the conspiracy theories and watched a few documentaries and even that idiotic Oliver Stone JFK movie that came out in 1991.
Can we finally call it? President JFK was killed by a crazy guy who was hanging around with communists and supporting the Castro dictatorship in Cuba.
Yes, there were angry right-wingers in Dallas. Some of them behaved poorly. However, do you think one of these groups would have "contracted" a head case like Oswald to kill anybody? My guess is that most of these right-wing groups would have given Oswald a bloody lip for his communist ideas if they ever had a chance to run into him.
A few years ago, James Piereson put a stake in all of the conspiracies, especially the nonsense about right-wingers in Dallas or the "let's get into Vietnam" military industrial complex.
Mr. Piereson tells us about Oswald, the communist who killed the president of the U.S.:
The facts are that President Kennedy was a martyr in the Cold War struggle against communism. The assassin was a communist and not a bigot or a right-winger. Oswald defected from the U.S. to the Soviet Union in 1959, vowing when he did so that he could no longer live under a capitalist system. He returned to the U.S. with his Russian wife in 1962, disappointed with life under Soviet communism but without giving up his Marxist beliefs or his hatred of the U.S. By 1963, Oswald had transferred his political allegiance to Castro's communist regime in Cuba.
In April 1963, Oswald attempted to shoot Edwin Walker, a retired U.S. Army general, as he sat at a desk in his dining room. Walker was the head of the Dallas chapter of the John Birch Society and a figure then in the news because of his opposition to school integration and his demand that the Castro regime be overthrown. The rifle Oswald used in the attempt at Walker's life was the one he used to shoot Kennedy.
Dallas police would not identify Oswald as Walker's would-be assassin until after the assassination of Kennedy, but Oswald, fearful that he would be identified for the Walker shooting, fled Dallas for New Orleans.
In June 1963 he established a local chapter of Fair Play for Cuba, a national organization dedicated to gaining diplomatic recognition for Castro's regime. Oswald was filmed by a local television station in New Orleans circulating leaflets on behalf of the Castro government and was jailed briefly following a street altercation with anti-Castro Cubans. Soon thereafter he appeared on a local television program to debate U.S. policy toward Cuba.
In late September, Oswald left New Orleans to travel to Mexico City in pursuit of a visa that would permit him to travel to Cuba and then to the Soviet Union. As documented in the Warren Commission Report, he took along a dossier of news clippings on his pro-Castro activities to establish his revolutionary bona fides with personnel at the Cuban and Soviet embassies in the city.
Oswald returned to Dallas empty-handed after being told that his application would take months to process. He was still waiting on his application six weeks later when he read that President Kennedy's forthcoming visit to Texas would include a motorcade through downtown Dallas and past the building where he worked.
The assassin's motives for shooting Kennedy were undoubtedly linked to a wish to interfere with the president's campaign to overthrow Castro's government. After the Cuban Missile Crisis, Kennedy pledged to abandon efforts to overthrow Castro's regime by force. But the war of words between the two governments continued, and so did clandestine plots by the Kennedy administration to eliminate Castro by assassination.
Last, but not least, I have spoken to Cubans living in New Orleans in 1962–63 who got into heated arguments with Oswald over Cuba. They will attest to the fact that Oswald was a "Castro-loving communist," or exactly the kind of jerk who would kill the president of the U.S.
The right did not kill JFK. The bloody communist did!

He won 179 for the Braves over 13 seasons.
In 1957, Burdette pitched 3 complete games to beat the Yankees in the World Series.
He retired in 1967 with 203 wins, a 3.66 ERA & 158 complete games.

The night they drove old Charlie down
To paraphrase the Band, it was the night that they drove Charlie Cook down. I mean The Cook Report that predicted that Democrats would increase their majority by 10 to 15 seats.
The prediction sounded so real that Democrats probably didn't even campaign. On the other hand, a bunch of very bright GOP candidates fought like crazy and campaigned for every vote.
The GOP went 27 for 27, which is a pretty good batting average:
Ahead of the 2020 election, Cook listed 27 races as “toss-ups,” meaning they were too close to predict one way or the other. Republicans won all 27.
That’s not a typo. Despite being assured by that conservatism was about to drown beneath an impending “blue wave,” Republicans won every single close race.
Republicans also won all 26 races deemed “leaning or likely Republican,” and even picked up 7 of the 36 seats listed as “leaning or likely Democrat.”
So why did Mr. Cook get so many contests wrong? They told us that President Trump's low ratings in the suburbs, lack of money, and 32 open seats weighed down Republicans' prospects. On the contrary, a bunch of good candidates backing President Trump, attending rallies, and using local media surprised everyone.
My guess is that a lot of these experts are living inside their computers all day long. Do they travel to the districts and talk to real people? I don't know for sure, but I don't want to see these experts on TV telling us what will happen on the next election day.
As the song goes, Virgil quick come see there goes Charlie Cook... and the people were singing they went La la la...

Who wants Trump to concede?
A plurality of voters believe President Donald Trump should immediately admit defeat to President-elect Joe Biden, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll, while just under half of Republican respondents said Trump should concede the 2020 election if he cannot eventually produce evidence to support his baseless claims of widespread voter fraud.The poll, published Tuesday, reports that 46 percent of registered voters think Trump should concede to Biden “right away.”That total includes 72 percent of Democrats surveyed, 43 percent of independents surveyed and 17 percent of Republicans surveyed.

Dallas turns blue and very unsafe
The Texas electoral map looks pretty red except for those blue squares in Dallas and other cities. Yes, Texas is starting to look a lot like other states where people live in Democrat cities, competitive suburbs and rural areas dominated by the GOP.
So what happens in blue cities? Crime goes up, and Dallas is no exception, as we see in these news reports:
A new spike in violent crime drew response Monday from Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson and Police Chief U. Renee Hall.
Since Wednesday, there have been at least 24 shootings with 29 victims and 11 deaths.
The string of violence began Wednesday afternoon with the freeway killing of Dallas rap music star Mo3, known to his family as Melvin Noble. The 28-year old was a Dallas native. He was shot in the middle of the day on the I-35E R. L.Thornton Freeway as he tried to run away, police said.
A sad story but getting more common. I’ve lived in this area since 1984 and we did not have this problem years ago. There was your occasional crime of passion but not crime like this. Who knew that Dallas would remind us of Chicago’s weekend shootouts?
Of course, crime has other consequences. It drives people to the suburbs. It discourages businesses moving to Texas from selecting Dallas as their home addresses. Like other blue cities, Dallas is short on police officers.
So what’s our city council doing? They are talking about bringing down statues and discussing our “racist” past. Maybe they should talk about our growing crime problem.
