We remember Lew Burdette (1926-2007)

We remember Selva Lewis Burdette, Jr. who was born in West Virginia on this day in 1926.  He died in 2007.

Burdette broke with the Yankees in 1950 but was traded to the Braves in 1951.  

He won 179 for the Braves over 13 seasons.

In 1957, Burdette pitched 3 complete games to beat the Yankees in the World Series. 

He retired in 1967 with 203 wins, a 3.66 ERA & 158 complete games.
