Senator Susan Collins: No "profile in courage"

Two years ago, Senator Susan Collins delivered an amazing speech supporting now Justice Kavanaugh.  It was exactly what the country needed.

On Monday, she voted against Judge Amy Barrett and missed the opportunity to deliver a real “profile in courage” speech.

We understand that Senator Collins is fighting for her political life, as we see in this post by Fred Lucas:
Her opponent, Maine’s Democratic Speaker of the House Sara Gideon, is challenging Collins for voting to confirm Justice Bret Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, backing Trump’s tax cuts and for voting against removing Trump from office in the Senate impeachment trial in February.

Former President Barack Obama recently did an ad for Gideon, who leads Collins by 4.2% in the Real Clear Politics average of polls. The Cook Political Report ranks the race as a tossup.
Maybe she will lose, in fact it looks likely.  I'm hoping that she returns to the US Senate because the lady is a great asset to the country.

Nevertheless, it's sad to hear her lousy reason to vote against Judge Barrett.  It would have been better, and perhaps more impressive to her constituents, if Senator Collins had voted for Judge Amy and gone back to the campaign with her head up high.
