A word about June 8




We remember June 8:

"Kiss of the century":   Greta Friedman was born in Austria in 1924 and died in Virginia died at age 92.    Greta was the nurse kissed in Times Square during the V-J celebrations in 1945. 

"The great shortstop":  Mark Belanger was born on this day in 1944 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.    He became one of the best defensive shortstops in major league history winning 8 Gold Gloves.  

"Cuban humor":   We remember Guillermo Álvarez Guedes who was born in Cuba on this day in 1927.  He died in 2013.

"These boots are made for walking":   We wish a very happy # 82 to Nancy Sinatra.
