We remember Irving Berlin who was born in Tyumen, Russia, on this day in 1888. Berlin moved to the US as a child. Over time, he became one of the most popular songwriters in the US. His songs included "Alexander's Ragtime Band," "What’ll I Do" and "White Christmas." He also wrote the soundtrack for several movies such as "Puttin’ on the Ritz", "Easter Parade" and "Annie Get Your Gun".
He died in 1989, at age 101.
