Remember when there was talk of McCain-Lieberman in 2008?

Before the banking crisis of October 2008, the presidential election was all about national security.     On one hand, the very experienced Senator McCain and on the other side the very inexperienced Senator Obama.

Prior to the conventions that summer, we heard a lot in about a McCain-Lieberman pairing, a national security ticket of historic proportions.

There were some good reasons for this ticket:

Both men understood the war on terror; and,

McCain and Lieberman understood that we needed a bipartisan effort to attack entitlements.

It never happened but it was a great conversation!
