We remember Don Shula (1930-2020)

Don Shula was born in Ohio on this day in 1930.   He died in 2020.

Shula led the Baltimore Colts and Miami Dolphins to the Super Bowl:   Baltimore lost to the Jets in 1969 and Miami won in 1972 and 1973.

Overall, his teams played in 6 Super Bowls.    He won 328 regular season games and 19 in the post season.  We also remember Coach Shula for "the perfect season", when the Dolphins won every game in 1972-73.

We remember Arthur Conley (1946-2003)

We remember Arthur Conley, who was born on this day in 1946.

He recorded one of the great songs of the 1960's, i.e. "Sweet soul music".

Conley moved to Europe in the 1970's and lived there until his death.    Not long ago, I heard a segment about his life on NPR.     Here is the transcript.

He died in 2003.   Here is the song.
