I guess that Caitlyn Jenner is the wrong type of transgender

It was bound to happen. In other words, the left would tell us that Caitlyn is a Republican and can not be a transgender or something like that. This is from news reports:
Though Caitlyn Jenner would be the first transgender governor if elected to lead California, she’s been largely rejected by the transgender community, who see her Republican-leaning views as coming from a place of privilege.
"She’s completely detached," said Bamby Salcedo, president of the TransLatin@ Coalition, an advocacy group. "All this truly is about her. It’s not about the issues, not about the people."
Christine Hallquist, the first transgender woman to be a Democratic nominee for governor when she ran in 2018, told the San Francisco ChronicleJenner doesn’t grasp the challenges faced by trans people.
I guess Caitlyn wants to control the border and that puts her out of touch with the challenges facing trans people.
What we see here is that I've experienced being a conservative Hispanic. In many instances, liberals have accused me of being out of touch because I support legal immigration. I recall one time debating a liberal and he said that I should support "our people" and defend open borders. I asked what "people" he was talking about, since all of my real "people" came here legally. We didn't get too far after that.
Frankly, I find Caitlyn Jenner repulsive. He is a man dressed up as a woman. I don't care that I agree with his or her political views but the whole issue of transgenderism is repulsive and unnatural. Nevertheless, we are seeing once again that transgenders are liberals first and transgenders second.

So I asked him: "What brought you to Dallas"?
He winked and confirmed what I suspected: "La vacuna" or the vaccine. He also showed me his next ticket or the next trip to Dallas for "Vacuna numero dos."
I didn't press my friend for details but this article confirmed what we now called "vaccine tourism". This is from Mexico New Daily:
The Mexican Association of Travel Agencies (AMAV) has also seen a spike in business from vaccine tourism. In the past two weeks, it has sold 120,000 travel packages for Mexicans seeking to be vaccinated, Milenio reported.
At 20,000 pesos (US $1,000), the packages are not within the reach of every Mexican but for those who can afford it, it has proved to be an attractive option. The packages include flights, hotels, transportation and vaccine registration, mainly for destinations in Texas, Arizona or Miami, Florida.
It's not cheap but it comes in handy if your employer is paying for the business trip. Just pay for your wife's airline ticket, share the hotel room and get "la vacuna." In my friend's case, his wife travels as his secretary so the employer paid for both of their tickets.
Why is this happening? Mexico and Canada are behind the U.S. on vaccinations.
The best part of the story is that my friend said that he was wrong about President Trump. In other words, he confirmed that President Trump did a great job with the vaccines and the management of the COVID crisis.
Well, my friend is right.

The collapse of CNN continues. Wonder what their advertising rate card looks like? This is from Jordan Lancaster:
During the primetime hours of 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. (EST), CNN lost around 65% of its total viewers since January. In the critical 25-54 age demographic, the network lost 71% of its viewers for both the day and primetime.
CNN’s drop in viewers is larger than its competitors, but all major cable news shows have experienced a drop.
To be fair, a lot of people tuned out politics after 2020. As a friend who voted for Trump told me, he was tired of politics. My friend didn't hate the media but needed a recess. It reminded me of how I felt in late 1970s. I loved the Bee Gees but I didn't want to hear "Stayin' alive" one more time. I guess we call it “saturation.”
In the case of CNN, the drop is more than saturation. I see two reasons:
1) It is the consequence of a business decision to squeeze every drop out of the Orange Man. In other words, the orange dried up. And,
2) The programming was boring. The hosts at MSNBC are crazy but entertaining. They are liberal wackos and don't mind telling you. The CNN hosts are boring because they pretend to be journalists and everybody watching knew that it was a fraud.
So what happens now? Honestly, I don't care. At least, I don't have to sell their advertising for a living. I would hate to knock on someone's door selling a network that nobody watches.

A few weeks ago, I visited Maryland and reconnected with some old friends. We exchanged e-mail addresses, business cards, shared family photos, and heard the latest news from Baltimore.
The city has 700 police officers but is 500 short.
Over in Minneapolis, Mayor Jacob Frey is asking for help. He needs more law enforcement officers, according to local reports:
Mayor Jacob Frey said the city has asked state and federal agencies for assistance, citing the city's shortage of officers.
"Safety in our city has to be a priority," Frey said at a news conference Sunday, calling the reinforcements "really, really critical."
The weekend's victims include two men believed to have been struck by gunfire on the North Side and two men killed in a mass downtown shooting: one of the suspected gunmen and the student, whose family said was "an innocent bystander."
The increase in violence has tested the commitment of city leaders who unanimously promised to transform policing and public safety in the wake of George Floyd's death -- but are deeply divided about how to proceed.
While debates about policing have proved to be divisive within City Hall, some of the victims' relatives said they hope to remove politics from the discussion. They want a solution that will keep other families from feeling pain like theirs.
Who knew? Who knew that Minneapolis would have the same problem as Baltimore or Seattle or Chicago or others?
We are happy that Mayor Frey has figured it out. I guess that businesses and citizens leaving can “unwoke” the "wokest" among us.
Mayor Frey and the local government have themselves to blame. They allowed criminals to burn down a police station and minority-owned businesses in the name of social justice. They are left with broken glass, empty buildings, and a shrinking tax base.

Baseball is boring and I love the game

As you may know, I was born in Cuba loving baseball. My parents followed different baseball teams in Cuba and that was part of their chemistry when they were courting. A young couple arguing about baseball? Yes, those were the stories that we heard in our dining table. (My mother followed Habana and my father Almendares, the Yankee-Red Sox rivalry of pre-Castro Cuba.)
Over the years, I’ve cried and screamed over games.
So, what went wrong? Why is baseball suddenly boring?
Well, the answer is too many strikeouts and too many guys swinging for the fences. The net result is a game where the ball is never in play. The biggest action is a foul ball and that’s not worth a ticket price or watching TV.
The strikeouts are killing the game, as Tim Kurkjian said:
In April, there were 1,092 more strikeouts than hits, the largest such gap in any month in major league history. The season strikeout record surely will be broken this year for the 15th consecutive time. In 2016, the percentage of plate appearances that ended in a strikeout was .211. It has risen, year by year -- .216, .223, .230, .234. Right now, it stands at .243. Those are, of course, the six highest rates in major league history. In 1968, the famed Year of the Pitcher, the K rate was only .158.
In the 1980s, there were, on average, nine strikeouts per game. Now there are twice as many.
I remember 1968, or the year of the pitcher when Bob Gibson led the world with an ERA of 1.10 and pitched 13 shutouts. Yes, there was a lot of great pitching that year, but the pace of the game did not come to a crawl. Why? Because hitters tried to get on base rather than hit home runs. Watch the games on the internet and you will see a much better game than today.
So, what can they do to make the game interesting again?
First, let’s find a Commissioner who cares about the game rather than pleasing the “wokes.” I would suggest Nolan Ryan, the all-time strikeout king, who recently said that there are too many “K’s.” Ryan would also put an end to MLB playing politics. He’d remind everyone that a team’s mission is to play baseball. Ryan’s “cowboy ways” would be a “woke” nightmare and that’d be great for the game.
Second, throw away the computer tablet and tell the hitter to bunt or choke up to make contact. It worked for many of us in Little League and it would do wonders to get the fans to get into the game. By the way, Dusty Baker, the great hitter and now Astros’ manager, said that he watched the first 3 innings of a game and nobody put the ball in play.
Let’s make baseball great again and it starts with an old-fashioned idea: Bunt to blow up the defensive shifts killing batting averages, move the runner, and a sacrifice fly to score a run. It’s amazing how much I miss the bunt and that beautiful sacrifice fly ball.

What do you do when the border is a mess and gasoline prices are out of control? You try to impeach Trump again by starting another investigation.
What exactly is this new investigation going to investigate? Let's listen to Senator Mitch McConnell:
“It’s not at all clear what new facts or additional investigation yet another commission could lay on top of the existing efforts by law enforcement and Congress....."
The answer is nothing. There are already various investigations underway, as the senator said.
I like what Senator Marco Rubio tweeted about this:

It isn’t designed to produce a serious inquiry
It’s designed to be used as partisan political weapon

Good for him and the other GOP senators holding the line.
I smell a party looking for a distraction here:
1) The border is a mess and people are being released without court dates. I'm confused. I thought that these people were seeking asylum. It sounds to me like they are just walking into the country.
2) Inflation is showing its ugly face. Just ask the moms shopping at the local stores after filling the gas tank.
3) Support for Israel is dividing Democrats. President Biden has an Israel problem and it's not from the GOP side.
Last, but not least, the 50-50 Senate is making it very difficult for the "majority" to do anything and the left is growing unhappy. They want to pack the courts and force Justice Stephen Breyer out, but it's not likely to happen.
So what do you when the weight of governing hits you between the eyes? Or when the absence of Trump cuts your ratings in half?
You reach for your favorite "nicotine Trump" and smoke lots of it to get over reality or bring back the viewers.
